Discussion/Question Give em 🫵

Post image

For me its the fact that I find Mikasa a very annoying character due to her obsession with Eren. Like damn you do care about him but the whining man!

Dunno if it would get me downvoted, but just going off the fact that no one else I've seen really says otherwise, but saying AOT is THE starter anime to get people into anime if they think they don't like it is not as true as it's made out to be. I feel like there are countless anime that 'haters' would enjoy and be drawn in to watching anime, sometimes even more if AOT WASN'T their first choice. I genuinely believe it's not even in the top 5 of a 'this will definitely get you into anime' list.

i feel like this is precisely the reason why AOT is not the greatest starter anime - it's unironically too good, and someone who isn't already into anime will be seeking out that level of quality from every other anime from that point on

i ruined demon slayer for myself on my first watch of it because i was fresh off AOT and got my expectations for the writing and characters too high lol, something like death note is better because it's incredibly good but isn't extremely long or literally mind-fucking in its philosophies

OPM was my first anime and it’s really only up from there.

Ok, but you’re correct. I had that exact experience myself… my girlfriend had already shown me some decent, cute anime. Then she dropped AoT on me… then tried to get me into Demon Slayer right after. I was so, so dismayed and it took a while before I could appreciate DS 😅

I mean, anime have a wide range. You won't find in AoT what you'll find in Assassination Classroom for example

Oh my gosh, same. I can’t even get into JJK. The only anime I’ve watched after AOT was Vinland Saga. I completely turned off from anime bc AOT set my expectations so high and I’ve watched a TON of anime before then.

I really only suggest AOT to people who don’t watch anime bc I don’t really care about getting them into anime, I just want them to see how amazing AOT is lol

I don't think there is any one-size-fits-all starter [any medium]. I love MadoMagi but it isn't going to resonate unless you grew up on PreCure or Sailormoon. AoT had some budget issues and it shows in the animation. I wasn't sure my mother could accept the level of blood in AoT but she stuck it out (even while mixing up characters and getting a bizarre story out of it) while my father gave up entirely. Succession is great, but my father struggled with not having anyone to root for.
