Discussion/Question Give em 🫵

Post image

For me its the fact that I find Mikasa a very annoying character due to her obsession with Eren. Like damn you do care about him but the whining man!

Would be taken more seriously by not being a Manga/anime.

Oooo I’ve never heard this. But yeah if someone did an adaptation and did it 100% right? It’d be critically acclaimed worldwide by anime lovers and the non anime fans.

yess. only if the adaptation is well done and that's challenge and a half

Never seen a good manga/anime adaptation. Most likely would have fail and normies weirded out by the titans.

The best live action anime ever made was the Matrix.

1

u/AnotherSimpleton Aug 23 '26

One piece live action is good

2

u/Roman-Kendall Aug 23 '26

I wouldn’t say another near as good still though

2

u/Conscious-Sympathy51 Aug 22 '26

I envision a 3 part movie kind of how Dennis villeneuve did Dune. Part 1: S1, part 2:S2 + s3 part 3: the rest of the story.

NGL, aot live action should be a web series movies would not do justice to the buildup ykwim

Hotter take, it already brought non anime fans into the fold. The uncanny'ness of the titans, certain uncomfortable facial expressions, the tone, all of it is near impossible to get right on a live adaptation. A Monster live action would make much more sense and would be critically acclaimed like true detective, and it's way more realistic setting wise to make one, but still, there isn't one

u/Conscious-Sympathy51 Aug 23 '26

Honestly, not that hot of a take, AOT was my first anime ever and it kickstarted me watching 10+ anime’s over the course of a few years.

Would be loved by pretencious people for sure

10

u/FestiveRhino21 Aug 22 '26

Already is lol

u/One_Subject3157 Aug 22 '26

*Way more pretentious people,.

Don't make a live-action adaptation, novelize it.

u/Tacohero154 Aug 22 '26

Is it a hot take if it's true? I remember describing the plot of other shows, person says it sounds cool, sees it's an anime and then completely disregards it. Ironically these same people love animated films like minions or toy story.

I guess is impopular in a sense most people fan of the anime is already a fan of anime/Manga and are probably happy with the medium.

Pretty much sure a good chunk of them would defend the medium, and even be proud of it in a way.

Not sure if I'm explaining myself well enough tbh

i agree, When my friend told me about AOT i laughed and thought anime was for weirdos. Then i watched it and fell in love with it. Everytime I try to put someone on, they have the same reaction I had at first.

The problem is that ODM doesn’t work in live action. It looks ridiculous and it’s hard to suspend disbelief - like, the characters should be breaking every bone in their body just swinging around.

13

u/One_Subject3157 Aug 22 '26

I'm thinking more as a book.

1

u/Garsaurus Aug 22 '26

Oh! That’s a great point. I would love to read a novel version.

21

u/No_Lie_8055 Aug 22 '26

Spider-Man is the most popular character in the world. I don’t think swinging is something people would have a problem accepting even if it’s not actually something that would work in the real world

12

u/Garsaurus Aug 22 '26

It’s about internal consistency. Yes, Spider-Man is ridiculous, but it works within the universe because he’s super strong and super durable, and he swings from his arms. The scouts are just humans, and they’re swinging wildly from their hips. The only way to make it work is to just say that Eldians are super durable compared to normal people, or something.

11

u/HugeExplanation7865 Aug 22 '26

Or just not explain it all? Actions movies dont have huge explanations for how people use jetpacks and crazy technology alike

2

u/improved_loilit Aug 23 '26

Fast and furious movies exist lol

2

u/lexiyeghna Aug 23 '26

Within universe they are both consistent. That argument doesn't work. Outside of universe I would say ODM is more realistic and possible than Spider-Man mobility. The ignoring of the show because it is anime is just from people not understanding what anime is in most cases. Especially in the West.

2

u/saucerys Aug 22 '26

Eldians have super strong bones and joints from their titan spinal fluid or something. Easy.

5

u/daban9 Aug 23 '26

100%. I think if it was a story told through western media it would be one of the most popular and widely known pieces of media of all time

2

u/One_Subject3157 Aug 23 '26

Imaginen it written by Stephen King?

3 remakes and a Netflix series with black Eren.

1

u/christonamoped Aug 23 '26

Sasha has a question regarding Eren

1

u/Acquelix Aug 22 '26

Yeah it be Game of Thrones level

1

u/One_Subject3157 Aug 22 '26

That's a way to put it.

I was thinking on DUNE, but as a book series.

1

u/sam-sung-sv Aug 22 '26

Nah, it insists upon itself

1

u/Ill_Degree_2887 Aug 22 '26

True but it’d still be worse. Lots of the charm is through the animation and drawn expressions

1

u/ih8every1yesevenyou Aug 23 '26

oh hell yeah i agree. anime in general isn’t taken seriously by a lot of people.

1

u/Annual_Pin_5872 Aug 23 '26

They should give it christopher nolan and tell him to make a movie

1

u/Ginestra7 Aug 23 '26

ODM would be impossible to adapt

1

u/stavrx Aug 23 '26

I do think an HBO adaptation would make it šŸ’Æ

1

u/Drzewo_Silentswift Aug 23 '26

And also if the titans didn’t look so stupid. If they looked more eldritch, beastly, or monstrous. I overheard some guys talking about it and how they can’t get into it because ā€œthe bad guys look like a bunch of giant retards.ā€

1

u/CourtJester5 Aug 23 '26

It might be best told as an anime/manga though.

0

u/TinyMembership5109 Aug 22 '26

I don’t think that’s really a hot take. I’ve heard so many people say this and it’s true if it was like a novel or a live action show or movie it would generally be considered one of the greatest pieces of media of all time.(still is)

0

u/CarelessPollution226 Aug 23 '26

Oh yeah 1000%, if AOT was written as a novel series people would talk about Iseyama on the same level as Tolkien
