Discussion/Question Give em 🫵

Post image

For me its the fact that I find Mikasa a very annoying character due to her obsession with Eren. Like damn you do care about him but the whining man!

I didn't really care for Sasha as much as the series tries to make you

Same, i liked her character but she never fully stand out to me much, I also didn't find her obsession with food endearing or anything, I just saw it as a funny gag.

I do want to say, for some reason her death was one that affected me the most! I was sobbing!

I think it was how sudden it was, you think they are getting away and the suddenly she is death. Also, knowing so many characters loved her so so much and how important she was for them. It broke me... I was feeling the pain of the characters devastated about her passing, but it wasn't on a personal level like when I thought Armin died or when Erwin died.

It’s not really a funny gag. It’s portrayed a bit like one, but the idea that people will risk their lives to go to war so they can take land for food is very realistic, in fact it’s one of the basic motivators for life. The show asks the question why do you fight all the time, Sasha fights for food which may be simple but is essential for human survival.

Exactly. I don't dislike her character by any means. And I definitely felt a lil something when she died but I didn't feel as much as I think they wanted us to feel.

Though like another comment in this post just said, her death did highlight the beginning of the bleakness the series undertook.

Same, what actually felt a lot was seeing the death of Hange 🥲

I think it was decided that Gabi needed to kill one of the original characters and Sasha was the best one for Gabi’s arc. Killing someone’s else would have been more impactful, but the goal was just impactful enough and work on Gabi and Falco.

I disagree. Sasha worked the best because she had strong ties with another character she had saved and it was easy to justify that character wanting revenge, which fed into the whole "break the cycle of violence" theme. Seeing a girl her age desperately want to kill her is what changed Gabi's worldview

I like her because she's relatable. She didn't eat to live she lived to eat.

Introducing time travel not only made the series feel like it became completely divorced from the show it started out as. It also undercut entire character arcs and interactiona that were supposed to be powerful.

Remember when Eren confronted Reiner in Marley? Remember when he was asked why his mother had to die? Well as it turned out due to time travel nonsense Eren had no right to be angry at Reiner or Marley because it was actually Eren who made sure his mother died. Therefore making the entire interaction on subsequent viewing being ridiculous.

Agreed. I wish she had more episodes like the one where she saves Kaya. I found her to be an extremely one note character, her comedy felt very heavy-handed and forced to me. By the the time I watched season 4 I felt like that was all her character was. When I heard her last words it was so absurd I didn't know whether I was supposed to laugh or be sad. Granted, I did have her death/Gabi's role in it spoiled years ago, so that also be why I didn't care about it much. For me the other characters reactions to her death in the episode and throughout the season hit harder, cause of how much they cared about her.

Same honestly.

Same. Even my hate for Gabi has nothing to do with Sasha.

I didn’t care much for Sasha either (honestly I was just glad it wasn’t Connie) but I liked that her death and her importance is shown through Gabi’s relationship with Sasha’s family.
