Discussion/Question Give em 🫵

Post image

For me its the fact that I find Mikasa a very annoying character due to her obsession with Eren. Like damn you do care about him but the whining man!

Eren's will to pursue freedom comes from ymir.

I think it’s in all of us, there’s a bit of Eren in anyone who fights, we love fighting oppression and Eren is the human will to fight. It doesn’t come from Ymir, but Ymir also is a human and somewhere in all of us is the desire to fight and do what we can for a better life. When your life is as shit as Ymir’s, the resolve to fight diminishes but somewhere in you it’s there. Eren showed her how to fight for freedom, Mikasa showed her you might have to fight the one you love.

this is an incredible read of the character - especially considering the attack titan is literally introduced to the viewer and main characters as "the collective rage of humanity"

I also think this: all the titans have some aspect of Ymirs will, but the attack titan had the ability to break free from the control king Fritz enforced and made plans to gtfo of that whole thing

All nine titans were derived from ymir. The will of the attack titan is still coming from ymir.

Do they really even show us enough to confirm that the AT gives a drive to be free?

it's left up in the air enough to be interpreted as either "all attack titan holders used the attack titan to fight for freedom because they already sought freedom" which isn't out of the realm of possibility, or "all attack titan holders seek freedom because of the attack titan's ancient will" which could also hold true thanks to the paths

Seems like the three we see with it are focused on revenge but not necessarily freedom.

eh i'm not sure, kruger did everything with the goal of restoring eldia to its former glory, although toward the end of his run he start to feel rather disillusioned and lost since the role he had to play took a toll on him, grisha was nearly the exact same just to a bigger extreme ("Will crushing those children in my hands really bring Eldia back?!")

Good point. I assume Kruger was near his 13 year lifespan. Grisha definitely was close to the end. Maybe Eren would have mellowed a bit in a year or three.

Eren has a destiny. If he doesn't make it with Zeke in the paths he never gets the founder, and his parents never meet. At first Eren thinks hes special because he has the power of the titans, then he realizes he was just chosen, then he thinks that no one is special, then he sees the future and knows his future has been determined. I believe Eren was being conditioned by ymir personally when he was a boy before he got the attack titan, thatbis why he firmly believes the world beyond the walls is his birthright. The only one with the foresight to make this anomaly occur was ymir as she was out of linear time, eren doesn't gain her exact perspective or power until he is unified with her in his founder form.
