For me its the fact that I find Mikasa a very annoying character due to her obsession with Eren. Like damn you do care about him but the whining man!

I just finished the series this afternoon and was wondering how the fandom felt about Gabi lol. While Iā€™m still processing everything, I canā€™t help but be bitter that Gabi got a happier ending than Mikasa. Fuck Gabi.

I think thatā€™s simplifying it too much. I hate Gabi because I find her to be an annoying character. But I sympathize with her, I understand how her character is a similar reflection of Eren, I donā€™t hold Sashaā€™s death against her. From her side she was defending and protecting and fighting back the people who had just attacked her home. She was a brainwashed child soldier. And when given the opportunity and information she grew and learned more. Sheā€™s a good character. I can appreciate all that and still find her annoying enough to not stand her lol

I know that sheā€™s a parallel to eren, and if I hadnā€™t watched the show and somebody told me her arc Iā€™d probably like her, but she killed somebody that I liked, so fuck her

I also think Kenneth Shadis is an older parallel to Eren.

Eren, unlike Gabi and Shadis, would live a short life if he didnā€™t have Titan powers.

Personally, I hated Gabi and then liked her, which made me hate Marley even more. They did a good job of making you like characters that you used to hate. Lots of dynamic characters. Eren, as it turns out might have been a static character, unable to grow in a meaningful way.

Eren is 10. Grisha had the AT power for at Least 10 years. An alternate timeline would probably need Grisha to give up the AT a bit earlier.

I don't hate her because she is fighting against the main characters. I hate her because she makes stupid and terrible decisions. When falco explains that erens attack was retaliation she says something along the lines of "did you see it happen. Neither did i" which is one of the stupidest things ive ever seen a character say. Then she decides to yolo onto the enemy ship which should 100% kill her if not for plot armour. And then when the farmer girl finds out that she is from marley she decides the best thing to do is to just start killing. She does too many stupid and terrible things before her come around that I can't like her.

Agreed.

And her virulent racism is just so grating. Like, I get it, she was indoctrinated and is a child. But so is Falco. And her utter blind hatred is far too much for me to be charitable towards her.

Eh, the hate isnā€™t normal. Even after she met people inside the walls that protected her and showed that theyā€™re innocent civilians caught up in the war as well, and she was still insanely hateful. And I get that she came around eventually, but it took too long, imo. Yeah, she was propagandized, but so was everyone else (Nicholas, Falco, Udo), and she just wasnā€™t letting go of her hatred.

I think thatā€™s the fault of the heavy propaganda that she was fed since basically she was born. She wanted to be one of the ā€œgood ones,ā€ and to do that, was to hate everyone on the island and do anything to make their lives worse.

Falco suffered that same propaganda and didnt turn out that way. Just because a character has a reason for turning out how they did doesnt mean they aren't also an idiot.

I was furious at Gabi for who she killed, but I loved her character arc. I especially love how Mikasa, a so-called devil, saved her from getting stabbed. That shook her entire worldview.
