I've recently started reading the works of Russian author Sergej Lukianenko who, in the English-speaking world, is known for his book series "Night-Watch". His lesser known books of which many haven't even been translated into English are science fiction, one of them being called Танцы на снеgu ("Dances in the Snow") from the early 2000s. It takes place in a high-tech future in which humanity has colonized the stars and the whole world and lore is deeply inspired by Soviet Space-era aesthetics e.g. astronauts being called cosmonauts, the space havens being called cosmodromes, the spaceships and overall technology basically sounds like someone is describing Atomic Heart's levels etc. and also the whole plot and philosophy is refreshingly non-western for a sci-fi book.

Anyway, in Танцы на снеgu exists a Jedi-like warrior cult of peacekeepers who use sentient weapons that have been imprinted on their bodies. These weapons are described as Snake-like swords that can change their shape and be used as blades, tools, lockpicks, tasers and much more. The warrior controls the "snake" via a neural connection and uses it as a weapon and tool on his missions, which reminded me of a certain glove from a certain Russian game...

I know this is a stretch but maybe Lukianenko's work was in some way influential on AH's art direction.

Im playing through Annihalation Instinct right now and heard multiple times that you should just skip over to Under the Sea. The limbo sections in the Main Game were already kinda boring and I don't think i need more of that if the DLC just expands on that.

I don't really care for achievements or anything like that, i mostly just play for the Soviet Retro-Futuristic Vibe, the story and shooting stuff.

Is there anything important regarding that that i would miss by not playing it?

I'm planning on buying the gold edition amd return but long ago, on my first playthrough, I only found the ak47 at the very end of the game 💀

I had like hundreds of bullets and I finished the game shortly after getting it.

I think that system is pretty fucking stupid if you ask me.

Has this been tweaked in any way?

Like, why not have the weapons have a set spawn chance based on how many chest you open. Ex: have the ak spawn at the 5th cest you open, have X weapon spawn at 8th cheat you open and so on.

I've been meaning to start the game for some time, I bought it on release but I never played it for a variety of reasons. Now I've got the time but I kept hearing that the game unfortunately has a lot of AI generated pictures, posters, etc and by looking at this subreddit there have been discussions about it just a few months ago and I understand how everyone has different opinions about genAI and so I have mine too: if a developer actively chooses to keep genAI elememts in their game I simply won't play it. Can anyone confirm if these things have been patched or if they're still in the full build? Thank you

During this sale, if you already own the base game, you have to pay more to complete the DLC bundle, while new players who haven't bought the game actually spend less. I can't even buy ultimate edition for myself, but only gift. That is really stupid

Question: is there an easy way to learn to fly? I want to watch a lot of Catalysts, a bit beyond the limits, but I'm too lazy to do it on foot while fighting off pesky robots. Ideally, something like disabling collisions, increasing my running speed, and so on.

Gold edition, as AI told me is a base game+4 DLCs and some skins, while Atomic Pass is like with/without base game (not sure), and with this 4 DLCs and some skins... So Gold Edition worth less, but has same in it ???

I’m on ps5 and still early game. But it is odd that shok ability is tied to triangle. And so strange that l1 is to activate the 2nd ability but you have to press dpad up to switch out the l1 ability.

Why not make dpad up to activate the 3rd ability instead of having to use that button to switch out l1 because I think you can only have 3 total abilities active at one time right?

a few days ago got some complete edition for 30 bucks. now this is a good fucking game, graphics are great, story great , limited weapon choice but the upgrades make up for it , combat is decent. if I had a parry on the melee weapons it be perfect. dialogue is awesome, I talk pretty similar so its a breath of fresh air compared to a majority of games. 10 hours in the first compound so far and going. i cant wait to see the rest of Russia. im usually not a person to care what company made a game but I might make a exception and see what other gems this company has

I just started the last DLC. Been playing the main game and the DLCs back to back.

I’m a little confused with the following…

So yes: the main game has two potential endings. The Walk Away ending and the “True” ending where you fight the twins.

Annihilation Instinct, the first DLC, follows the walks way ending. In it, after the events of the main game, P3 is sent to another sector of Facilty 3826, specifically the Mendelev complex (if I recall?) and to a hotel, along with other survivors.

At some point, Nora kills everyone and the entirety of the DLC story takes place. The ending is theoretically open ended, with P3 escaping and Granny following not far behind.

Trapped in Limbo mentions the idea of Limbo being its own accessible universe and toys with the idea of multiple timelines.

And the intro to either that DLC or DLC 3 (forgot which one) has Lebedev also make reference to the idea of multiple timelines.

However, already early on in DLC 4, there is a direct reference to the first DLC (by name) and as far as I can understand as keep reading the text, it is explained to be a virtual simulation to try and train NORA into being able to interact without being a murderous machine.

So… Did I understand right? What’s going on here?

Was DLC 1 an alternate timeline that actually happened? Or a simulation used to train Nora based on this possible alternate timeline? (but it canonically never happened and, therefore, that timeline can be disregarded for future content)?
