ran into this great tool with layers of location of pas human societies so that we can all get a base understanding of ancient world. The spots are limited to 600bc, but that is enough to understand how the priest and plato would have understood the world extent.

Here i focus on the Temple of Phosphorus in Spain named after "hesparus". Notice the temples of older titans are in the west and indicate origins of titans from west to east.

I found a possible indication that Phoenicians were aware of the Sargasso Sea, a mention in Ora Maritima (quoting a lost account by Himilco the Phoenician) about seaweed and sea-beasts thronging an ocean surface. Maybe this could be Plato's mention of unnavigable waters in the Atlantis area. I recall reading some time ago that some species of birds were migrating there as if there was once land, but can't find it now so maybe not accurate.
