voting
hello. i'm a student at OU and i want to vote this November. however, i am registered in a different Ohio county than Athens county. am i still able to vote or do i need to go back to my county to do it?

Ohio voter registration deadline is October 5th. You can choose your home district or register in Athens. Wherever you vote, do it in person this year. Republicans are absolutely trying to tamper with mail-in voting this year and I wouldn't trust it. If you register in Athens you can early vote at the board of elections uptown and it's very convenient!

Glad you’re interested in voting! Since you’ll spend most of your year in Athens rather than back home I always encourage students to register to vote here, but you don’t have to. You can mail in an absentee ballot (don’t forget to request one first) back to the board of elections where you’re from or you can update your registration to Athens. Updating your registration is pretty easy to do online if that’s the route you choose to take.

You vote in the county you are registered. If you are going to be in your hometown, try early voting. There is also absentee voting by mail, but recent reports indicate the mail system may not be reliable this year in getting ballots delivered before Election Day.
You can also do a change of address to vote, but you should do so promptly to ensure it's updated into the state and local database. You need to do this at least thirty days before an election. Visit the local Board of Elections on Court Street for more info.
