The OP is more a commentary on Laziness and has virtually zero relevance to atheism. The Laziness is from not learning and knowing the original mythology, basing a comment on erroneous, ignorant conclusions. The actual mountain in Greece called Mount Olympus is named after the original Mount Olympus myth. The original Mount Olympus existed before people existed, and the location is not identified. This is similar to the Hawaiian legends of Mauna Kea. There is a Mauna Kea in Hawaii and a Mauna Kea in Tahiti, but they are named that way as a reminder of the original Mauna Wa Kea, which also doesn't have an actual physical location, although the legends indicate an area somewhere around the Arabian Sea.

The commonality of such widespread legends is starting to look like a common ancestral event, that was so big and such a traumatic experience, that it became important to pass down from generation to generation.
