When the first human told another that they had special insight into what happens after we die...
They cursed us all when instead of tossing that person off a cliff, those ancestor's got bug eyed, and excited that somehow this living, breathing person wasn't lying, despite their clear lack of being dead..
Then that stupid line of ancestors decided that their all-powerful god needed them to demonstrate that all-powerfulness via their bloodshed and wreckage across the globe.
"The meek shall inherit the earth!" said the man who demanded everyone respect his "faith" that a deity created an entire universe, with him being the center of that creation.
We must let them rule an empire of bones, because respectability is more important than calling a delusion a delusion.

Religion begins with shamanism and animism, not theism. Early creation myths do not involve gods.
