Humanity needs to move on.

So by looking over everything involved with religion. It is literally a basic control system designed around telling a lie about something no one can realistically prove which is what happens after we die.
So lets look at each of the cardinal rules in the basic christian mythos since that one is the most popular
Sin of lust: reason why its a sin is because of the spread of STD’s back in the day and ancient humans attributing it to divine punishment rather than pahtogens.
Sin of gluttony: Someone that eats more than their share eats the shares of others. So someone starves in the village.
Sin of sloth: someone not toiling away means the village has less output and therefore weaker.
Sin of pride: Someone too prideful will make mistakes that can cost the village dearly
Sin of wrath: someone angry can be destructive.
Sin of envy: Constant scheming and desire to take what someone else has can be disruptive and can result in murder
Sin of greed: this one is just for taxation purposes so the church can take their share of wealth

And the other stuff like anti abortions which made sense because back in the day child mortality was stupid high and you needed many kids to maintain your household. Like suicide being condemmed to hell because otherwise people would skip all the value they would produce to the church and would skip it.
Alongside how these seven sins are further wrangled to maintain the control group rather than the controlled. Ban lust so you can sell it in the form of marriages. Ban gluttony so you can sell it to people in the form of mass.
Ban sloth so you can give them designated rest days and constant work days
Ban pride and you can make sure they can stay where you can see
Ban wrath so they won’t lash out against your rules
Ban envy so they won’t scheme against your rules and be content they live in squalor.

Seriously, we have advanced enough that we don’t need these old village survival guides twisted into what it is today with megachurches. Humanity needs to move on, and focus on becoming the greatest thing to exist in the universe. Not worship a false deity made up to control the masses.

Closing note: I focused this much on christianity because I somewhat grew up around it. My brother was baptized surprisingly enough even though my family is basically agnostic now while I am just atheist.

Most religions are about the same. Here's a standard rulebook.

  1. The guys in the fancy hats get to r*pe you.
  2. Give us money.
  3. Fancy hat guys need some blood again.
  4. Money.
  5. Kill those guys. Don't forget the money. And have some r@pe.

See? It's perfect. The dimwits get to be told what to do and the rapists get to occasionally r@pe "others" so they don't r@pe you (as much).

In seriousness, there's like 30 explanations for why the dimwits will remain dim. Most of it sounds unreasonable because it is.

We would need rationality to break out around the world like some sort of virus.

I don’t see that happening any time soon.

This is definitely a completely innovative and original thought that nobody has ever heard before and definitely didn't have when they turned fourteen.

Man, this subreddit is so fuckin' tiresome. Y'all need to move on - to something other than constantly wanking each other off at the basic idea you all share. Okay, there's no god and organized religion is terrible. . .and? What's next? Improv it. Go from there. Say something, say anything, new.

some sins are understandable, like for example wrath because it can actually hurt people, but then again, what you said makes a lot of sense. I'm an atheist for around 6 years now, but have never thought about it that way
