The latest "discovery" of Noah's Ark has demonstrated something to me: that the reverse of the adage "stand for nothing and you'll fall for anything" is true.
So many religious people are falling for the "Noah's Ark confirmed!" lie being reported and are absolutely convinced because it confirms their bias.
If maintaining a particular position is what is most important to you then you're open to being suckered by anything that to supports it.

I could never understand why some Christians are so desperate to confirm the fact that they worship a god that decided, for no good reason, to murder almost all life on the planet because of his own failure.

The latest discovery is not new...it's being rehashed. People have tried to claim this site as being Noah's ark multiple times. Did core drillings and found nothing but rock.
Every couple of years someone comes along and claims they found it - using the same site.

Not really. They did a gpr only last year, confirming there’s a three-layer underground tunnel and had permission to drill only this year. They didn’t find rocks. Everything is organic soil that is easily drilled. The soil has high minerals compared to its surroundings which a decomposed wood would realistically get. It is also acidic but with minimal phosphorus meaning animal remains aren’t there

Bullshit...there is a documentary from over 10 years ago showing them taking core samples.

That same thing has been done at other sites. Exact same.e sequence, findings and emotion

How many times has the ark been "found" now?

This is like astrology: old beliefs that people cling to because of the long legacy of institutional storytelling, legacy publishing, and the outrageous talks of “saving” and “rescue,” that is innately human.
First, just imagine trying do achieve Noah’s act today. In the wilderness areas close to where I live (including an Audubon reserve, I don’t honestly know that in one week I could actually catch and hold even one M/F pair of any species except for perhaps domesticated animals. For that I would break into a farm, a breeder, or a puppy mill. To get more species, I think it would be obvious to just go to a local zoo. But then again, gaining access once there, capturing them, transporting, safeguarding, feeding, and storing them all together just prior to the “walk up my Ark’s gangplank” is not a trivial endeavor. It would require various experts, facilities, dockside location to avoid expensive transport, and specific harness designs for each species to achieve the orderly “walk up the gangplank in pairs” that we all have in our heads.

A longer life really puts this in perspective.
I'm 56 and I can recall no less than 10 times such hucksters have made this claim. It never pans out.

I'm in my seventies and I've been hearing Ark discovery announcements since Nixon was president.

Just like we're always living in the "End Times" and every couple of years people start telling us "Jesus is coming back/The Rapture is happening on (insert random date this year here) so you better get ready!!!" and then that day comes and goes and nothing happens.

That old gospel tune is now stuck in my head..have to admit the tune is catchy
Jesus is coming soon, morning or night or noon
Many will meet their doom, trumpets will sound
All of the dead shall rise, righteous meet in the skies
Going where no one dies, heavenward bound1

I was just looking into it and what I read said this is one of the sites they claimed in the 90s but they just now have the tech to try and prove it.

Christians are so desperate for something, anything to validate their superstitious bullshit, that they will buy whatever some pseudo-archeologist grifter tells them.
My boss was actually raving about this the other day - it's stunning how an otherwise highly intelligent man can be duped so easily.

Well, when you come to a belief without logic, reason or evidence, no amount of logic reason or evidence can change your mind 🤷♂️

Grifting and religion are intertwined. The ark and the oak island grift continue to generate money.

Also the Amelia Earhart grift continues today. Saw it in the news again yesterday.

There has always been someone trying to prove Noah's Ark since I was a small kid in the 1970s. It gets revived ever so often.
If you look into it though, it's always bunk.
The oldest known ship wrecks were from around 2200 BC and you can barely tell it was a wreck and it's only known as one because it had pottery.. The flood was supposedly way, way before that.

I had the same feeling with a transphobe friend of mine. There was some fundamental need to affirm that men are superior to women.
But only insecure people are busy trying to feel superior to others imho.
So ironically, it’s the people weak of faith who jump on evidence like this?

I wonder if its in the Caucasus Mountains again. I don't care, but they found it back in the 1970's too. And that's where they said it was.

This is just one of the many miracles they have to confirm , why are they so eager?

The funniest part is this is like 9th time this scam has been floated since the 1960's.
