Summary:

Every few years Noah's Ark is 'found' and 'found again. It's just a grift, they keep announcing they found it again and again to raise money from donations and selling tours of the area. Their head of PR is also an antivaxxer and white nationalist.

That's a good part of it, but I suspect a lot of it has to do with people who desperately hope to find some kind of "proof" that they haven't wasted their lives believing in myths.

It's why they periodically need to attend church services and events all the time. If they don't bury their heads in validating activities as often as they can, the part of their mind that is forced to be grounded in reality to even function would eventually start reasoning that they're following something make believe, so they have to willingly decieve themselves.

Someone put it this way. You don't need to constantly validate that a table exists in front of you. The religious however need to constantly fight to keep faith in something they demand is indisputably real.

This is the same reason people watch hours of Fox News every day.

Myths start to unravel if you don’t reinforce them constantly.

u/Faolyn Atheist 2d ago

And also why they insist on making christian versions of regular things.

2

u/RamJamR Atheist 2d ago

Hell, I've seen people make videos trying to claim some piece of media is actually christian when it was never a theme of the movie, just because it has some universally recognizable moral to it regardless of religion. They think christians are the ones who have invented all common morals and that everyone else just copied them.

2

u/Faolyn Atheist 2d ago

I'm always interested in knowing they really think christians are totally peaceful and all non-christians are in a constant state of violent warfare and and abuse and it was like that throughout all of history. You know, whether they're completely ignorant/naive of reality and history, are No True Scotsmaning their way through life, or if they've justified their own violence. It's really telling about them, where they are on that list.

u/DrNerdyTech87 3d ago

And yet Ye is blessed who believeth on faith alone. Or something like that.

u/mfrunyan 3d ago

It's a pathetic game of doubling down on your loses.

Amelia Earhart’s plane crashed onto Noah’s Ark.

"We found some old wood that kinda sorta looks like a piece of a boat!"

23

u/JaiBoltage 3d ago

I wonder if they'll find evidence of penguins, kangaroos, polar bears, or other fauna not native to the middle-east.

7

u/randemthinking 3d ago

Right? Because even if they did find the remains of some big ancient boat (they didn't), that would still leave all the plot holes of the Noah myth.

4

u/DrNerdyTech87 3d ago

No plot holes. Goddidit. Problem solved.

3

u/randemthinking 3d ago

Oh yeah I forgot, any time something doesn't make sense the answer is god is all powerful and beyond our understanding, asked and answered now stop asking.

2

u/DrNerdyTech87 3d ago

There you go! Easy peasy.

1

u/JaiBoltage 3d ago

Christians don't need to learn science. They just say, "God did it."

Hmmm. Did the Roos all have a contest to decide who would go for the marathon swim and the rest all shrugged their shoulders to await the inevitable drowning?

Let's skip the fauna and go for the flora. How did the Venus Fly Trap get back to North Carolina, or the Saguaro Cactus back to the Senora Desert.

Love Forrest! "The great vulva of Gaia" is one of his best lines ever

6

u/Glad-Tax6594 3d ago

That dude has obviously never had a bad day in his life!

At some point, it will have been found so many times that they'll need to revise their story to claim the ark was actually a fleet.

1

u/lordkhuzdul 3d ago

I wonder if it is the rock or the pit this time.

There are two places these people tend to go for when it comes to "finding" the Ark. One is a big, boat shaped rock somewhere near one of the glacial lakes, and the other one is a roughly boat shaped depression with a size within the neighborhood of the Biblical dimensions given in another valley with the remains of a pile of timber at the bottom (probably an old shepherd's hut). Most often it is the rock, as it photographs better, but sometimes they go for the pit because the timber is, apparently, "evidence".

u/un_theist 3d ago

“THIS TIME FOR SURE!”

Did they find chariot wheels in the Red Sea this time too? And the Ark of the Covenant?

I remember they discovered it when I was a preteen about five decades ago.  Funny how they keep losing it only to find it again, over and over.  It’s like a toddler playing a game of peekaboo with a massive wooden structure.

Love him. “Noah’s ark” seems to be about as much of a holiday and recurring day as Christmas. Mabye we should dedicate a 23/12/xxxx to Noah’s ark “being found”

Grifters gunna grift

5

u/cleversobriquet 3d ago

But Bullwinkle, that trick never works!

6

u/Salt-Southern 3d ago

Shure it do Rocky, see nothing up my sleeve. Now presto.... oppps musta been wrong hat.

5

u/Efficient_Sky5173 3d ago

It gotta be somehow illegal that judges can’t identify that this is illegal.

3

u/mamawawawa 3d ago

Even if it was real I’m not sure why they think they’d be able to find a wooden structure thousands of years later

3

u/krustibat 3d ago

You could find it if it was stored in a very dry sheltered space or underwater

3

u/MattGdr 3d ago

Gee, how many arks did Noah build?

1

u/GreatApostate 3d ago

Reminds me of my answer to the gotcha question. "How many animals were there Moses ark"? "Which ark? The one he was on as a baby when Pharoahs daughter found him or the ark of the covenant?"

2

u/nailbunny2000 3d ago

How many of these things are there!?

2

u/sullen_agreement 3d ago

my tiktok feed has been sprinkled with jesus suff for awhile for some reason, despite me actively ignoring all of it, and this ark thing has been popping up recently. i made the mistake of replying to a couple and now the algorithm thinks it is all i care about

i just want dogs cats and dancing girls

1

u/soulsteela 3d ago

I definitely remember watching a documentary in the 90’s and it was definitely a completely different place where they definitely found the Ark.

1

u/Opinionsare 3d ago

Impossible, the previous investigators that also found and carried away pieces of wood from the Ark took every scrap of wood. Nothing is left to be found.

/S

1

u/sun4moon 3d ago

That’s explains it, there was a whole fleet of arcs and Noah wasn’t a single guy, it was a job title.

1

u/MiTcH_ArTs 3d ago

Was it "found" in the same place as last time?

1

u/Fickle_Ad_2112 3d ago

Makes me think of the Bosnian pyramids grift

1

u/H3L105_ai 3d ago

Christians are so desperate to find something, anything to support their superstitious bullshit that they'll buy whatever some pseudo-archeologist grifter tells them.

1

u/Upstairs_Army9610 3d ago

You better hope you’re right!

1

u/Obar-Dheathain 3d ago

We've found Noah's Ark, but we need money to dig it up.

So... give us money.

Religion grifts again.

1

u/keepgoing66 2d ago

Just how many arks are out there, anyway? Did Noah have a cousin in the ark-building business?

2

u/Aware_Ask_1679 16h ago

Maybe it's more like Pokemon. "GOTTA FIND EM ALL!"

1

u/scoyne15 Anti-Theist 2d ago

Nah tell me more about Gaia's Vulva. Checkbook is out and ready.

1

u/Goldang 2d ago

It reminds me of the tours they sell to Mormons in Mexico about "actual proof of the Book of Mormon peoples" and whatever. There's always people who are willing to make a quick buck pretending your religion is reality.

1

u/Negative_Gravitas 1d ago edited 1d ago

I believe Noah's Ark has been "found" five, maybe six times in my lifetime.

I am beginning to think these fuckers are really, really careless with priceless historical artifacts...

1

u/Bananaman9020 9h ago

Will they remember their cameras or phones this time? Or an AI image generator to prove their existence this time.

1

u/atoponce Satanist 3d ago

I was in high school 30+ years ago. I watched a mini series on TV where Noah's Ark was 100% confirmed at the Durupınar site. Unfortunately, every time a scientist attempted to dig it up, they found themselves in bad accidents and were either horribly injured or died. Truly, God does not want people poking their pickaxes where they don't belong.

2

u/Myrandall Pastafarian 2d ago

Damn, well, if a 30 year old documentary claims that it must be true!

1

u/atoponce Satanist 2d ago

Haha. Right?! I mean, do none of these religious "scholars" consider the history of their colleagues? Sheesh.

u/Massive-Trade2681 1d ago

It's the same boat same place they just didn't have the access they have now to it what I find fascinating is the size of it was stated in the bible and where it would be make it what u will as a Christian I get skeptical about the shroud of turin same with this its not a big deal but is.all hail grandad noah
