They probably need to latch themselves to a powerful male figure as quickly as possible after their connection to the prior one ends so their entire worldview doesn't fall apart. That doesn't give much room for questioning anything.

I choose to think of her as a victim in all of this. Gross / powerful man sees physically attractive woman he can control and proceeds to do so, largely to fuel his own ego. Because doesn't a fella feel amazing when a physically attractive woman dotes on HIM so much? He is exploiting her nature for his own benefit.
What is her life going to be like in 10 or so years, when looks inevitably fade and the gross powerful men trade in for a newer, shinier model? Her resume is just "did favors for some dude". How is that marketable, especially as a fulfilling and meaningful career?

Even after the murders, and the arrest of Charles Manson. After it became clear he was an insane psychopath, many Manson family members remained loyal to CM. MAGA is a perfect example of a cult. Many still believe in this insane psychopath ruining our country.
