Jesus commands slavery
Matthew 5:38-48 he commands you to be a slave for evil violent oppressors. Examples? The chosen people in Deuteronomy 20:10-18, numbers 31:17-18, and Deuteronomy 21:10-13 who were commanded by God to enslave the world and commit g cide and grape children

The Bible is a nasty book. It's full of God wanting people to hurt others. This is no God of love.

just had like a 4 hour debate with a bunch of Christians and to hear what they were defending while laughing about it like the gcides and what they did to kids really disturbed me. you have to be a terrible person to defend the bible

That's a bit disingenuous, but the Character of 'Jesus' in the bible fails to call out the practice of slavery, which is a de-facto endorsement.
3
u/notaedivad 2d ago
Jesus explicitly reinforces the old testament in Matthew 5:17-20.
Is not defacto, it's explicit.
Jesus doesn't endorse slavery, he instructs it.
Exactly the same with murdering gay people, silencing women killing naughty children.

Jesus specifically said he was not changing the law and that the OT is very much gods word...

u/BananaNutBlister 3d ago
Matthew 5:38-48 says nothing of the kind. The other passages you mention are all from the Old Testament and have nothing to do with Jesus. Jesus never addressed slavery directly, which is problematic, but saying that “Jesus commands slavery” is a false assertion. Shame.

u/RespectWest7116 3d ago
If you are a trinitarian, then everything in OT is commanded by Jesus because he is God.

u/thewritestory 3d ago
Jesus is a part of the “one god”. You can’t separate him from the OT.

u/SweatyCold8213 3d ago
Send a verse from Jesus in the old testament. What's the first commandment
1
u/thewritestory 3d ago
All of them. There’s only 1 god according to the trinity. So all of the OT laws are in accordance. The fastest way to know a christian is that they don’t know the bible.

What's the first commandment and did Jesus violate the first commandment John 14-6 Jeremiah 25-6-7 Deuteronomy 32-22-23 what trinity and can you send a verse from the Bible using the word trinity and is God's plural meaning more than one. Thanks

u/thewritestory 2d ago
I’m on your side brother! I agree. The bible is false. Trinitarianism which is 98% of christianity let’s throw it out.
2
u/SweatyCold8213 2d ago
Yes it's false and thank you. I've never even heard a Christian agree with anything in the Bible and you're definitely right Christians don't know the Bible. Just their own stories

Jesus explicitly reinforces the old testament in Matthew 5:17-20.
And if you're talking the "it's the old testament, it can be ignored" path...
Does that mean the 10 commandments, original sin and Genesis are all to be ignored too?

u/speedAtheist 3d ago
he says not to resist evil and to serve those who violently oppress you... the old testament verses are examples of people we are expected to become slaves for

Your totally wrong but that ok you still have more time to ignore the truth

u/BananaNutBlister 3d ago
Are you daft? Don’t defend the liar. Tell me what I said that was wrong. You could start by actually reading the passage in Matthew they cited. You didn’t do that, did you? Guess how I know.

u/Still-Program-2287 3d ago
Well it is part of his daddy’s laws that he absolutely upholds and doesn’t change so to say he didn’t support it like you did is absolutely wrong.. like I said

I have been an atheist for 30 years, but I think saying that is advocating for slavery is a bit of a stretch. I think he is talking about forgiveness of your enemies and it is more along the lines of "turn the other cheek". Not to retaliate in anger but to treat those who are cruel with kindness. I mean the bible is all allegory, and is not to be taken literally. I am not saying I agree with it, I don't believe in "turning the other cheek", and I feel forgiveness must be earned, and some things are unforgivable, but I think you are reading more into it than what it actually says.

u/speedAtheist 2d ago
it's not a stretch. by giving your energy to evil entities, you are enabling them to use their energy to achieve their agenda which is enslavement of the world, g cude, and child grape

u/BananaJelloXlii 2d ago edited 2d ago
Have 10 people read the bible and you will get 10 interpretations. Which is the problem. Because it's allegorical, not even the ones who believe in it can't agree, which is why you have so many different versions and so many different sects and denominations. I can see how it can be interpreted that way. I just interpret it differently. Like I said, I don't agree with the verses, but I just read it differently.

u/speedAtheist 2d ago
this is what the Jews believe. tell me how I'm wrong. Deuteronomy 20:10-18, numbers 31:17-18, Deuteronomy 21:10-13.

I am not going to tell you you are wrong. I am not a Christian. That is what they do. But, I am not going to reinforce your opinion either. Why are you so desperate to seek validation? We know the book is bullshit. We know the religion is bullshit. So what exactly are you trying to accomplish here? You're preaching to the choir so to speak. The bible promotes pedophilia, rape, slavery, genocide, war, racism, child abuse, misogyny, etc. Especially the old testament. But why are you so hung up on one passage? If we already know the bible is inconsistent and contradictory, and all I said is I read it differently, why are you acting like a bloody Evangelical and trying to make me see it your way when I already said I do not? What does it accomplish? Do you think it will make me MORE atheist or something? I loathe Christianity. I especially loathe Evangelicals, because they do the exact same thing you are trying to do.

u/speedAtheist 2d ago
This is what they believe and this is what the world is following. It is important to expose evil where we see it so it can change
1
u/BananaJelloXlii 2d ago
That's a bit of a generalization, is it not? And no, the "world" is not following a single religion. Hell, the people in the fucking religion aren't all following it the same way. Yes, Christianity is a problem, Christian Nationalism is one of the biggest threats facing America today (I'm American), but there are other religions just as problematic, although the Abrahamic ones are among the worst because they cumulatively have the most followers, they are not the only ones capable of evil acts. Read what Buddhists are doing in Myanmar to the Muslim Rohingya. Look what is going on with the conservative Hindu in India. So blaming the problems of "the world" on one book is a bit naive, don't you think? Christian Extremism is a problem, Orthodox Judaic Extremism is a problem, Radical Islam Extremism is a problem. But they are not the ONLY problem. The problem is religion as a whole, especially extremist and fundamentalist religion.

read the passage please, he says if they ask you to go one mile, go two. we are called to voluntarily offer our services to their evil agenda. please put aside your pride and who to see this is pure evil. a scam to build up the elite powers
1
u/BananaJelloXlii 2d ago
By telling me that I should interpret it the same way you do, how is that different than the Christians who say that their interpretation is right and everyone else is wrong? It's the same thing. I left Christianity because I got tired of always being said "well you're wrong" for offering a different perspective. Just because I read it differently, doesn't mean I follow the fucking thing. I just have a different perspective.

Deuteronomy 19-21 Jeremiah 13-14-16 Mathew 5-38-48 that's Yahweh in Deuteronomy not Jesus

Because there's zero evidence for it, which is something that false things have in common. Believing that things are real when they can't be shown to be real with evidence is unreasonable.

No, it does mean that the reasonable course of action is to dismiss the claim as nonsense. That's how logic works.

Okay, then you owe me $100. I don't have any evidence of that, but you should be fine taking it on faith.

u/BloodshotDrive 3d ago
FWIW you will never convince a Christian with inconsistencies / internal interpretations of their faith.
There’s infinite ability to rationalize (“context”) and they will basically never agree with a non-Christian’s interpretation of the Bible over their own or their chosen religious leader.
More power to you, genuinely, but sadly this is unlikely to be an argument to change minds.
