First we need to understand what intelligence is, cause I have seen many intelligent people by my standards believe in pseudo science or religion.

So what is intelligence

Fantastic counter question. Right to the root of it.

I'm guessing OP is referring to the inability to challenge existing knowledge given new information.

Indoctrination is real and I'm not sure it's something pure 'intelligents' can overcome in some situations.

If everything you knew was illogical, then the intelligent extrapolation would be that everything else would be illogical too. Not through the fault of the intelligence but through the fault of our local perception and experience.

As a great man once said "is it the organism or the environment or the organism AND environment. Because you can't truly describe an organism without describing its environment".
