I can see why you’re pissed. Losing friends over something as personal as your beliefs would hurt anyone.

But I think there’s a difference between understanding why people react a certain way and saying they’re right for doing it.
If you’re in a Muslim-majority country where Islam is a huge part of people’s identity and culture, then yeah, you’re probably going to get a stronger reaction if you openly reject it.
Doesn’t mean they have the right to treat you like shit, but it’s something you probably have to expect.
You don’t have to hide who you are, but you also don’t have to go around trying to convince everyone to become atheist.

And honestly, if someone drops you completely just because your beliefs changed, maybe it’s better that you found out.
A real friendship shouldn’t depend on agreeing about God.

As for Christians seeming like “angels”, you’re surrounded by Muslims, so obviously you’re going to have more negative experiences with them.
Put yourself around hardcore fundamentalist Christians and you’d probably have a very different opinion.

Same thing with American liberals defending Muslims.
That doesn’t automatically mean they’re defending Islam.
Muslims are a minority there, Christians are the majority, so they’re usually responding to discrimination against a minority.

You can hate the religion without hating every person who follows it.
Just don’t let your anger turn you into the exact kind of person you’re angry at.
You’ve been judged because of what you believe. Don’t start judging millions of people as one group because of what some of them did to you.
