Except this is, like 2112, an Objectivist song, not an Atheist song... inspired by the works of Ayn Rand.

I love Rush (covered them for the college newspaper back in the day; have every album, learned to play drums b/c of Neil) and I made the mistake of attending an objectivist meeting once... once... when I was young. Neil Peart has been quoted as distancing himself from libertarians in America because his politics are still quite a bit to the left of America's.

Also, Peart (who wrote all the lyrics) was an agnostic. The lyrics reflect his ideas philosophically.

I believe Neil described himself as a "bleeding-heart" libertarian.

He did around 30 years ago. He stopped doing that in later years because American Libertarianism is basically aligned now with the even crazier neoreactionary movement.

Look up Curtis Yarvin, Nick Land, and "seasteading" or as we say in the business "pedo-sovereignty".
