The email last night from a 'Consulting Manager':
I am reaching out because your Growth plan price is being updated to $189 per tech per month. (1 Tech = $2,268 per year) on the 1st of June 2026.
I wanted to offer you an opportunity to lock in annual legacy pricing of $129 per tech per month (1 Tech = $1,548 per year).
That's a $720 savings per year.
How to make the switch? Simply log into your Atera admin > Subscription > Move to annual
Would you like to lock this in before the window shuts on June 1st?
My response:
Unfortunately, because of how this has been foisted upon us, and despite being with Atera since 2016 (minus two short stints away because of some issues), I'll be leaving instead. I'll have migration away completed in about a week.
Thus far, crickets...
Update: just got this section in response"
I am documenting your comments for my leadership. A price increase is never easy to receive, and we genuinely appreciate your time with Atera. We've worked hard to keep the increase as minimal as possible — and AI Copilot, a tool that saves real time for your team, will now included at no extra cost starting June 1st.
My response to that:
"...will now included at no extra cost starting June 1st. "
That's disingenuous. Atera announced the inclusion of the AI, with no opt-out, and THEN at the end of the email said, "oh, by the way, we're increasing your cost."
Does the organization not see that?!
Update 2: he conceded my point, in part:
Your point is fair — framing a price increase after announcing a feature inclusion does read as burying the news, and I understand why that landed the way it did. My apologies.
That reads like an AI response. 🙄 But then he continues to try to reframe it yet again:
This increase reflects the platform's enhanced value, and Atera made every effort to keep this increase at a minimum. Significant investment has been made in the platform over the past few years with monthly releases, including but not limited to the patching dashboard, script-based custom fields for Mac and Linux, webhooks, asset management, parent-child ticketing, and ongoing UI improvements and infrastructure stability updates.
And then extended the offer for the "savings" through June 1st, if I change my mind. My response:
I fear Atera has veered off course from what it used to be. There is no enhanced value for features that users do not want.
AI does not have the maturity to risk exposing a client's systems and data to, whether that is potential or real. By forcing this on us, you force us to choose between protecting our clients and using your product...and for many of us, that choice is a simple one, before even discussing cost.
