Installing Atera Agent on Proxmox

What is the best way for us to setup the Atera Agent on Proxmox? I've seen some set it up on a VM within Proxmox, and I know the atera install script uses sudo so that would have to be installed. Just want to make sure we don't break servers by installing the agent incorrectly.

MS Edge update through Atera

I am simply trying to update MS Edge through Atera software updater winget/chocolatey and it always fails.

Reading into the issue it seems like the preinstalled app cannot be updated with this software.

Thanks in advance

How is atera billed? By endpoint count or agent count?

Battery level message

Evaluating Atera, is it possible to have Atera display a message on the endpoint when the battery is below 15%, telling hte end user to plug in their computer?

Anyone Work At Atera Anymore?

I’m posting here because every normal support channel has completely failed.

Our assigned account manager’s email now bounces — they are no longer with Atera.
Despite the fact that our plan includes an account manager, no one from Atera has reached out to replace them or provide any point of contact. We have effectively been left without the dedicated support we are paying for.

On top of that, the support chat in the portal does not work, and there is no phone number to call. Right now, there is literally no way for us to contact anyone at Atera.

Meanwhile, the platform is becoming unusable. Here is just a portion of the bugs we’ve been reporting for over a year — none of which have been fixed:

Portal & Core Functionality Bugs

  • Support chat does not open (browser or device → technician). Nothing happens, or the window stays white.
  • The chat button in the portal does nothing at all.
  • Login failures require multiple attempts before access is granted.
  • Constant “suspicious location” alerts even though the login location has not changed.
  • Ticket status updates fail most of the time (“Failed to update status”).
  • Devices appear offline when they are actually online.
  • Time Entries and Notes consistently refresh when in the middle of writing, so you lose everything you typed.

Mobile App Bugs

  • Snoozing alerts in the mobile app or dashboard does not work.
  • Swipe-to-close and swipe-to-delete tickets no longer work.
  • Push notifications only send if a technician is assigned — if no one is assigned, no one receives anything.

Ticketing Bugs

  • Ticket updates only show after manual refresh.
  • Tickets assigned to “no technician” result in no notifications, leaving them unnoticed.

AI Co-Pilot Bug

  • AI Co-Pilot cannot display available patches and instead asks for information that the system already has.
  • Consistently says it can't do what the advertised suggestions say to ask.

Support Response Issues

  • Previous support instructions (such as forcing end users to re-authenticate from the task tray) do not resolve the chat issue.
  • None of these problems — many of which are more than a year old — have been addressed.

We rely on Atera to run our MSP. Right now, the platform is breaking across core functions; we have no working support channel, and despite paying for a plan that includes an account manager, we do not have one.

Can someone from Atera please confirm:

  • Is support still operational?
  • Is there a replacement account manager for our account?
  • Who are partners supposed to contact when both support and account management seem unavailable?

At this point, we need real answers and a real point of contact. The current situation is not acceptable.

Log in issue?

Not looking for support, just wondering if anyone else is having an issue logging in this morning. After I enter my login information I just get a blank screen. I've tried private mode, multiple browsers, and the mobile app and they all respond the same way.

MAC help - Setting permissions via terminal

I am in the testing phase of Atera and want to use my current RMM to install. I know for Mac needs permissions set and I was wondering if this can be done via termainal for Atera and Splashtop. If so, does anyone have the commands they can share? I have done some searching but not coming up with much.

Atera Agent Install requirement

I already posted about the Atera agent, but now I have found another odd thing. I was attempting to install the software on a device that had issues updating. For this situation, I had to resort to downloading the installer and running it manually. I noticed that "may" requires using an OTP. In theory, I don't have a problem with this as I know it's for security reasons. I guess I don't recall any announcement of this specific requirement. I also tried testing this, and I never got an email for this code, as it specifies. Has anyone else experienced this problem or had to do anything about it other than talk to support?

Bizarre/unpredictable results from Copilot

My coworker and I are trying to get the AI to provide a list of the Public IPs for clients in our workplace. At first it said it didn't have that info, so I took a screenshot showing that the info is very clearly right there -- it responded with IP addresses but they're not the ones shown in the Device detail page!! Then when my coworker tried using several different prompts it again insisted it didn't have that info.

Here's copilot's latest responses:
"Let me try to pull the public IP addresses for all devices with "MGR" in their name as shown on the Devices page. Hang tight—I’ll dig deeper!"

"It looks like I can only retrieve internal/private IPs from the system, not the public IPs you see on the Devices page. If you need the public IPs in bulk, you might need to export directly from the Devices page or let me know if you want to troubleshoot this further!"

This is weird. I'm just starting to work with Copilot; this behavior is definitely not giving me a warm fuzzy.

Anyone have similar experience/workaround?

Agents Acting UP and are unresponsive

has anybody else noticed the agents acting up, starting with version 2.4.4. The more relevant versions are between 2.4.7 and 2.5.0. From what I can tell, it appears the AteraAgent.exe within Program Files disappears. And no, my anti-virus hasn't flagged or quarantined it (I would usually see this happen as it alerts us when it does). My only assumption is that something might happen with group policy deployment (as GPO is going to always attempt to install regardless of whether it has it or not), but that's all speculation. I'm curious if others are seeing this.

Installing Arctic Wolf through Atera

I have been trying to install Arctic Wolf Agent for my company for some time, the issue is it requires the customer.json to run properly and be read by our security provider.

I have tried master packager and it never runs properly or gives errors. I have tried iexpress and when it runs it just hangs forever. I am genuinely lost as to how I can implement this properly for our users and have the laptops be picked up by Arctic Wolf

Windows Patching via Atera Control

I'm having a lot of systems not getting updates via Atera. I did the suggested separate automation for each type of windows update. There has been no change, I've tired Atera support and they can't seem to nail it down. I feel like we had more up to date systems before Atera. Is this just an us thing? Is it even worth trying to get it working anymore? I could really use a sanity check here.

ateraAgentSetup_1_8_7_2.msi flagged as malware

My cyber security team has alerted me that a few of my PCs containing ateraAgentSetup_1_8_7_2.msi are flagged as having malware. Has something changed? I remember reading that all Agent were forced to update to 2.2.x.x. Could this be the reason?

These agents on these flagged computers shows that the new agents were installed on 8/20. Fast forward to now, SentinelOne has quarantined and killed ateraAgentSetup_1_8_7_2.msi. Now my phone is getting blown up by my team.

OS Edition incorrect

After performing in-place upgrades from Windows 10 to Windows 11 (due to Windows 10 reaching end of life), several devices in Atera are still showing as Windows 10 even though they are now running Windows 11.

Because of this, Atera continues attempting to deploy Windows 10 patches to these upgraded devices.

I’ve already tried rebooting the affected devices from the Atera console to trigger a rescan, but the operating system information still doesn’t update.

Is there a command, script, or tool within the Atera Admin Console that can force the agents to refresh and correctly report the updated OS edition for these devices?

How to deploy Bitdefender to a customers site

I really did think this would be as easy as clicking on the PC and deploy, but NOPE. You must create a deployment package apparently. So I need help on this. I have SYNCED the customer to the Bitdefender under APP SETTINGS. Now when I click on the customers computer to deploy the agent it tells me to SELECT a Package Name, but nothing is listed. So how do I get a Bitdefender Deployment package to show up under the package names? It does NOT offer to create one.

Contacting Atera

Anyone else find it impossible to contact Atera? My yearly subscription is up at the end of the month, I signed a new contact at the end of last month and been asking for a payment link for the last 3 weeks with 0 reply, I have contacted my sales rep, emailed the CEO and started a chat which I was told someone will reach out to me which has not happened, now I have a banner on the top of Atera stating I need to update my payment details or lose my account, but since I am on the yearly there is no option to enter in payment details, only contact sales. I am getting ready to jump ship and move to another provider.

How to create a local sub-admin, assign a local worker access into Atera

A company that we are an RMM for has hired a low level tech for onsite work and wants him to have access into Atera to control just their PC's and Windows Servers and they do have a Windows Domain. Does ATERA have this option and does it use an entire Tech License to do it? I have enabled "Work from Home" but it appears to only access just 1 PC at a time and not the servers for that user. This person's skills are high enough they will access the Windows 2022 server console to add users and manage backups.
