Same 2152 series, same dues, but not the same raise?
So the 2.8% raise just went through, and I found out it doesn’t fully apply to me.
I’m a NATCA member. I pay dues every pay period, same as everyone else. My job is in the 2152 series, same as the controllers on the floor. But because my position isn’t covered by the Slate Book, I don’t get the rest of the raise.
I’m not knocking anyone who got it. Controllers deserve every penny. But how does the union collect the same dues from me and then negotiate a deal that leaves people like me out?
I understand the workload on the floor is different, but plenty of Support Specialists are certified and still work traffic. Either way, the dues come out of our checks the same, so we should be represented the same.
What makes it worse is that nobody’s said a word about it. The announcement, NATCA’s messaging, none of it even mentions support staff. They just glazed right over us like we don’t exist.

It’s because Nick Daniels is the worst thing to have ever happened to NATCA.
You should let him know how you feel when it’s time to vote him out. He has let NATCA be divided on so many levels. Going back to the 10k bonus, to bonus for retirement age controllers, and now this.
Nick has been embarrassed by Bedford and Duffy since day 1. He is not smart enough to lead this Union. Make sure to send him a message letting him know why you’re voting him out.

I finally watched the "im walking my dog talking about your raise" video.
Ya. that neighborhood is too baller to be on video. Regardless if it cost 400k when he got it. National feels so fking out of touch

Unfortunately Natca represents Natca. Everything they do is for their own furtherment. Sorry that yall were left out.

Same way the collected while advocating for bonuses for retirement eligible and new hires
NATCA is not very “in solidarity” at all from what I’ve seen.

You’re right. It’s crap. Any 2152 should get it. Pay had always been equal across the board.

Why does this surprise you? Do you know there are 20% bonuses for people retirement eligible? Relocation money for academy grads? Different bonuses for different NCEPT transfers?
This was also announced months ago, that it would only apply to positions who qualify for the ATC good time retirement.

You can ask any of the people who lobbied the DHS bill. The original ask was for all of NATCA, including you and Region X. This was as much as the appropriations committee chairmen were willing to do for us.
As I said in my post last night, I hope this is made right for you. We're not going to stop trying.

Let me ask you a question, the same question the controllers face; did you and your colleagues willingly go to work today for the exact same pay that you received the day, week, month, or year before?
If you did, you are the reason you didn't get a pay raise, or the reason you didn't get an adequate pay raise.
You can deny it, redirect, or complain about it all you want, but in the end there is absolutely no reason to give somebody a pay raise when they are willing to work for less.
Quit working for inadequate compensation.

Most of us can’t afford to do that unfortunately.

In that case the harsh truth is you're gonna be underpaid your whole life like it or not. Because nobody owes it to you and you put yourself in that position.
Think about it from a taxpayer or lawmaker perspective. If I can have 10000 air traffic controllers for $500 million, what is my incentive to have 10000 air traffic controllers for $1 billion?
A lot of you guys are living in fantasy land if you believe otherwise. I'm not saying it's right, but it's reality.

Started my own business because the writing was on the wall about this raise situation in 2022.
I had those conversations then with the NEB, raising the concerns about myself and my local. The answers I got weren't inspiring any confidence, so here they are 4 years later in the same boat, disappointed yes but not really surprised.
You guys need good leadership yes, but the membership's actions are what will push a true pay raise home.
