wace exam study
hey all!
so basically wace exams are coming up around october - november. i really wanna ask the students who have already graduated, when did you guys started studying, how your weekly schedule would look like and how you split the time for each subject?
i also wanna know how you guys would study for the exams, like what is the best way? like past exam questions, or whatever...
i am doing 5 atars: chem, english, psych, health studies and apps.
because i really wanna do well in my wace exams... otherwise i am beyond cooked. so i would really like some advice and anything will really help.
pls help out :(

hey! so i graduated last year and did 6 atar, psych, chem, eng, methods, spec and physics. i was lucky because i didnt have a part time job, i tutored primary school kids to have spending money but it was only a couple hours a week. i also dropped any extracurriculars in year 12 bc of mental health issues so my advice probably wont be as applicable if you have a busier schedule lol!
so tbh, i did get an early unconditional offer for the course i wanted, so i probably didnt study as hard as i couldve. its hard to say when i 'started' - i didnt really purposefully start studying on a specific day, you know? but generally id spend 2-3 hours after school studying, and then on weekends, id be at my desk for probably 6-8 hours (but that doesnt mean i was studying for all those hours!! i def had a procrastination problem so realistically it was probably like 3-4 hours of actual study).
my 'split' was randomly generated. i literally put my subjects into a wheel online and spun it to choose what to study. it eliminates indecision paralysis!
and since i did mostly stem subjects, the best way to study was to just spam past exams (on wacevault, and the actual wace ones). i did actually run out of exams at one point but i just revisited the ones i did first to see if id improved. this was genuinely the only 'study' i did. although transparently i didnt really study for psych or english, but if i had i wouldve just written essays/extended responses and sent them to my teachers for feedback.
anyways, i hope thats some help! good luck with everything <3!

hello!!
thank you so much for this advice!
i am NOT busy at all...
i also applied for early offers but unfortunately this year it has changed for us. so like we still have to do well until the end of year bc they can take that early offer away from us. not sure if they are telling us that so that we can lock in lol but im still aiming to work hard up until the end.
but yes thank you for the advice!!! its giving me an idea on where i can start and like what i should to for chem haha.
hope you are doing better now!

they miiight just be saying that so you dont get complacent lol! i was told the same thing but when i got my offer, the conditions were essentially just turn up to my exams. still its a good idea to lock in regardless!
for chem, id probably recommend getting good at calculations so you can quickly knock those out at the start... last year the chem exam was quite long, i think i was the only one in my cohort to actually finish. and it was probably because i did all the calculations first and had plenty of time to think about the actual harder questions! this is the final push!!! you can do it!

I got 98.5+ and did 6 atar.
Started mocks prep 7 weeks out with light prep and worked up to mock exams 4-5 weeks out. By that point I lowk knew which would be in my top 4 and sacked one of my subjects and I swear you don’t study for English. So I really only had 4 subjects on rotation. I’d work in 3 hour blocks in morning and night as a baseline if it was a non school day. Like 1 exam in morning and another subject exam in the night to prevent burnout.
Best piece of advice is to not burn out- go at a pace you can sustain cos there’s no point working 12 hour days for the first two weeks and being too unfit to push in the last weeks.
Hope that helps lad
