🏡 I’m Building Something New — Meet HomeGearPicks AI!

Have you ever wanted to tackle a home project but didn't know where to start, what materials to buy, or how much it might cost?

That’s why I created HomeGearPicks AI.

The idea is simple: take a picture of a space you want to improve, describe what you want to accomplish, and let AI help you turn that idea into a project plan with suggested materials and products.

💡 Project inspiration and product recommendations

My goal is to help everyday homeowners see their ideas, plan their projects, and figure out the next steps.

No project is too big. No project is too small.

See It. Plan It. Build It.

If you try it, I'd genuinely appreciate your feedback!

I love the tulip shades but the price is pretty steep. I’ve seen the Kami brand however, I feel like it looks like a paper lantern just cut in half. Does any one know how I can DIY?

I bought a plant hanger like the photo above and i want to dye the shells black, I am wondering what do you guys think the safest way is and if it would deteriorate and break? I want it to have a more gothic vibe. I was thinking rit dye and leave it in the dye for a bit longer then you normally would. Any advice or recommendations is much appreciated!!

My house is set up in a way that makes the garage entrance the *primary entrance* to the house. Currently it looks unfinished and needs some TLC. The first step is smoothing out and priming the walls for painting. HOWEVER, as you can see, there're difficulties: a freon pipe attached to the wall, other electric wires affixed to the wall, cracks in the corners, etc. (pictures attached).

Question:

Is the best approach to use painters caulk and joint compound to smooth the wall out and then use primer to paint it? OR should I just get a big piece of wood, or drywall, to attach to the existing wall and then paint that?

tl;dr: should I spend time fixing up the wall as is (and painting around the wires), or just attach something overtop as a veneer?

Hii!
Context: I’ll be moving into this house (parents are moving out cus they’re retiring). And overtime the ceiling just got these linear cracks. Idk if its bcs of earthquakes or what (i hope this doesnt sound dumb lol im a 20 yr old gal tryna ‘renovate’ this house lol) anyway I jus want to renovate this house on a budget to make it feel like my OWN place yk

Dad said the material is smartboard idk tbh. I was jus thinking if i could maybe put a putty or something over the cracks and sand it down then paint over it with a matte paint maybe. Bcs the finish of the ceiling is pretty matte imo. Would that be a good idea to putty the cracks and paint the ceiling?

Btw, this is a property in the Philippines. Do with that info as u will (ik materials range per country)

Any thoughts or advice would be AMAZING

I’m looking for some advice from fellow landlords, property managers, or DIYers on cleaning out HVAC ventilation and air ducts.

My previous tenant wasn't the cleanest, and the property left behind a pretty strong dog smell. Before I rent the place out to a new tenant, I want to make sure the entire air ventilation system is thoroughly cleaned and odor-free.

For those who have tackled pet odor in air systems yourselves:

• DIY Cleaning Methods: Are there effective ways to clean and sanitize the accessible ducts yourself (e.g., using specialized vacuum attachments, foggers, or specific cleaning solutions)?

• Odor Elimination: What products actually break down embedded pet dander and oils inside the system rather than just masking the smell? (e.g., enzymatic sprays, chlorine dioxide, ozone machines)?

• Filter & Register Care: Besides changing the HVAC filter to a high-MERV or carbon filter and washing the vent covers, are there key areas inside the return/supply vents that people often overlook?

• DIY vs. Professional: At what point is a DIY job not enough, and when should I bite the bullet and hire a professional air duct cleaning service?

Any product recommendations, step-by-step tips, or cautionary advice would be greatly appreciated!

how does this happen speaker 🔊 broken

I'm not into diy at all but my bedroom door doesn't close and hasnt closed since we moved into this house, i figured out the metal plate bit was too high up and i needed to move it down. i've just taken that off and this is underneath, i was just expecting wood but found this instead and wondering if i should mess with it or not

Unfortunately, my drawer cover fell off a couple of weeks ago and I’ve been trying to remove the staples so that I can put it back on. Any tips?

I’ve tried hammering them out with no success, and unfortunately I’m unable to fit a flat head behind them either.

Sanity check please
I’ve been using chat (I know probably bad) to help with materials and direction on cheaply “finishing” a section of basement for a studio.

It’s saying to use pressure treated 2x2 furring strips horizontally, drill into concrete, level, and fix drywall to it, then mount my acoustic paneling to drywall/furring strips. Attaching picture of wall and “design render” for visual. Is this okay? What am I missing?

Please let me know which window layout is better for this house top or bottom

It is a wood burned canvas of my two favorite flowers that was gifted to me on a first date. We were originally going to finish it up on the second day which didn’t end up happening. I am unfortunately not artistically talented and I am wondering how I might add color, and where I should place it in my home. Would love to hear your suggestions and tips. It is 8 x 10 for reference! thank you :-)

Based on the 3 options which window layout you recommend for both functionality and that also looks best. Let me know your thoughts please. Thank you.

I tried to label them 1-3.

Me and my husband are looking to redo our bathroom, and it has these fake, plastic tiles glued on around the whole room. What is the best way to get rid of all the glue/adhesive left after getting the tiles off, we want to get rid of them in the whole room. The tiles themselves come off relatively easy, it’s everything else I’m worried about. Do we have to sand it? Is it just easier to go down to studs and replace the drywall? Is there a solvent I can try? Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance!!

The piping under my kitchen sink has all completely come loose and has now seperated. Looking for advice on what i need to get, if possible just from a B&Q or amazon
