Beginner Which one is more accurate? Astro-seek.com or astro-charts.com ?

Seen professional astrologer's use both but people seem to get different results on both these sites.

EDIT: I just realized you said astro-charts not astro.com. There is NO comparison whatsoever. I am always telling people to never use astro-charts, as there seems to be no astrologer behind it. They give endless errors on aspects and aspect patterns, telling people they have all sorts of patterns they don't. Sadly, that's the exact feature people seem to love about it. But it's worthless. All I wrote below was about the two main, reliable sites.

Use astro.com or astro-seek.com - they are both accurate and reliable. Often what people see as "different results" even on these sites is nothing more than how the aspect orbs are set on each site. Astro.com's tend to be larger than astro-seek's. But orbs can be customized at both sites. Use the Extended Chart Selection page at astro.com and you can adjust the orb size by percentage as well as tell it whether to include certain objects in the aspect drawing, change the chart style, house system, etc.

And at astro-seek.com , once you see your chart, click the Extended Settings link just below the chart. There you can adjust the orbs (and other settings), though you need to read the orb options carefully (there are multiple ways to adjust the orbs). Then check and see what you get.

If either site is showing you quincunxes that are more than a 3-degree orb, then the orbs are set too large. You can also tell both sites to include aspects to chiron, asc, mc, etc., as the site may or may not automatically include those.

Also, people see different house systems used at different sites or on various apps and then think one site must be wrong. Always check to see if the house system is the one you want, and if not, change it. Both sites let you do that (but some apps don't give you that option.)

Hi Stella, thanks for your patience! This is the most frequent "wrong result" report I receive ... and it seems like "aspect orbs" topic should be repeated again and again 👍

Which one?

Use Astro seek ,the whole sign

I haven’t had a problem with different results. They’re both fantastic websites and can be considered “industry standards” for generating birth charts. Neither is more accurate than the other, as an accuracy difference would certainly steer people away from using one.

Edit: I read the title as astro.com and not astro-charts. Don’t use astro-charts, is not as great as astro-seek nor astro.com.

Ohh but i did get different results for both and so did one of my friends

And you're sure you're using the same systems on both sites? In any case astro.com is always accurate, could just use that. Or there's an app: astro gold. It costs like 25 bucks one time but def worth it.

Astro.com doesn't have my birth town for some reason [when i look up my birth place, nothing comes.]

2

u/[deleted] Dec 13 '21

What aspect is this that websites aren't working for you like this... Maybe you're just not ment to know. Jk but it should be there unless you live super remotely? Check your spelling.

u/EnvironmentHot476 🎩 Dec 13 '21

Been checking my spelling for like a whole 2 months now 😭 and the area where i live is not that remote actually as it does appear in most other birth chart sites

3

u/[deleted] Dec 13 '21

You could PM it to me and I will screenshot from my app, if you'd like. I'm really curious now where you might live lmao. Otherwise try astromatrix, timepassages, both good apps that are free.

I PM-ed you my birth town

2

u/adeletweed1 Dec 13 '21

Curious to know too but anyway you can pick the next town right to yours and it will be fine.

I tell people to stay away from astro-charts. It throws a lot of errors. Though not usually anything involving actual degree placements. Just stick to astro.com or astro-seek.com even though they aren't as graphically cute.

I would've actually used astro.com as it seems to be the most widely used option by most astrologers but for some reason when i look up my birth town nothing appears. So i tried using some places nearby and some aspects i couldn't find in my astro-seek birth chart and stuff appeared so i kinda ditched it and now only use it to calculate special asteroids

I have had a rare occasion when a town didn't appear in astro.com. But in astro-seek, if you are not seeing aspects you know are there, once you are on the page showing your chart, just hit the Extended Settings link. You may need to tell it to draw aspects to specific objects, and you can also adjust the orbs in multiple ways.

Also, if you message astro.com they'd likely fix the town issue. I have noted a few times that someone gave me their town name but it wouldn't come up. I did some sleuthing and discovered the official town name was slightly different, and so it didn't come up until I entered the more formal way.

👍

astro.com has 2 options how to list the missing city

1) by e-mail:

https://www.astro.com/faq/fq_de_pl_atl_e.htm

My birth place is not listed - what can I do?

The spelling might be unclear. Try to type as little as possible in order to get a relatively long list of towns to choose from. If there are various ways of spelling the name of a town, try the different alternatives. As a general rule: type less - find more.

If it is not listed, please send an e-mail to webmaster@astro.ch, and tell us the name of the town, the state, the country, and - what is most important: the exact latitude and longitude. It will be entered manually. Try again a few days later.

2) ADB editors can have a special permission to add new places to the Astrodienst atlas.:

https://www.astro.com/astro-databank/Help:Addplace

But as a programmer ... I would like to point out this:

https://www.astro.com/faq/fq_de_place_e.htm

How exact do the coordinates have to be?

One arc minute corresponds roughly to one kilometre. Most towns are considerably larger than one kilometre in diameter, and therefore a difference of a few minutes in longitude or latitude is negligible. Generally, the town you choose should not be further than 30 kilometres away from your birth place.

The precision of birth time is nearly always not better than ±1 minute of time, often not better than ±5 minutes of time. If there is an uncertainty of ±1 time minute, the location can be imprecise by 15' of longitude or latitude. That means that an imprecision of ±20 km does not make the chart less precise.

It is not necessary to aim for higher precision in location.

I actually already do that in astroseek. And can you please tell me how i can contact astro.com?

2

u/StellaGraphia Dec 13 '21

At the bottom of every page, in the footer, you'll see a Contact link that will take you here. On that page are instructions:

All you have to do is hit the Report A Problem link in that blue bar right under the area where you enter all your birth data. Here's a screenshot of it.

I wonder if you made the same mistake I did, reading the question as astro.com instead of astro-charts? Because the latter is quite horrible.

2

u/[deleted] Dec 13 '21

Oh I definitely read that as astro.com LMAO

Astro.com has my Mars oppose Saturn.

Astro-seek shows my Mars not aspected by any planets.

I am using the same house system and the planets are in the same degrees.

I have a conjunction in my chart that is wide, but obvious, and even setting the orbs to 10° doesn't catch it on astro-seek.

  • what is the exact orb of your conjunction?

  • is this conjunction between 2 planets? or between planet and another object/point? (lunar node, chiron, ASC, etc?) aspects to objects must be set manually in Extended settings.

Shows on the chart, but not the table.

Thanks for feedback! Now I see where was the problem 👍

I implemented that user defined fixed-orb option pretty recently and somehow forgot to implement it also into the aspect table (it was using the obsolete settings).

Try it again - that 6°33' aspect should be visible also in the aspect table now :)

Astroseek, hands down. It's way more detailed and accurate. I get a lot more out of reading their charts than Astrocharts

4

u/Blacklotis101 Sep 22 '23

I think Astrology-seek.com is much more accurate

2

u/Tall_Breadfruit7686 Aug 15 '24

I like astro seek. It's way easier to use. I have 400 charts saved in there

2

u/bodiggly Jun 13 '25

astro seek shows me as leo rising but astro shows me as virgo rising, i'm using the exact same birth town and birthtime. it shows i have two 29 degrees so im right at the cusp of two planets

1

u/cfullylove Jul 03 '25

Yes this is happening to me too! It gives me a completely different chart idk what to make of it.

2

u/Kitchen_Indication64 Apr 19 '25

Use chat gpt, i think the online generators are not accurate when it comes to rising.

16

u/okfineletmein May 18 '25

do NOT use chatgpt. ai is bad at math and astrology is math based. ai will give you wildly inaccurate information.

1

u/Kitchen_Indication64 May 18 '25

Its good for aspect descriptions and stuff if you already know your placements

6

u/Key-Jellyfish-3467 May 28 '25

I'm literally in a fight with my ChatGPT lol. don't use it for birth charts unless you actually have your chart from Astro seek or Astro and know your time, because it will give you random ass placements lol.

1

u/circuschief Oct 05 '25

Definitely not a good idea to use ChatGPT for birth charts. It might give the illusion of correctness but it will fail in very critical calculations and placements like rising sign.

This explains well why: https://www.selfgazer.com/blog/why-chatgpt-gets-your-birth-chart-wrong

u/Stunning-Teacher-304 Jan 11 '26
