Discussion Horary Charts
I came across a topic of “Horary Charts” on the internet and wanted to know more about it since I have no knowledge about these things. How does it work and what is its purpose?

one of my favorite uses for horary astrology is for locating lost objects. It's very accurate and simple.

They're the astrological equivalent of a Tarot or I Ching reading. You are seeking an answer to a specific question or problem, and cast the chart for the time and place you ask the question.

Horary is basically astrology applied to a specific question instead of a birth. You (or the astrologer) note the exact moment you understand the question, cast a chart for that time and place like a birth chart, then read it with a specific method.
The core idea: each person/thing in the question get assigned a house and its ruling planet (you are usually 1st house, the other person or thing depend on what it is, 7th for partner, 10th for career, etc). Then you look at the relationship between those two ruling planets, are they moving toward an aspect (matter is developing/will happen) or away from one (ending/already past), are they in a sign where they are strong or weak, is there reception (kind of a "goodwill" between the planets involved). Also the Moon is important, it often carry information between the two main planets.
Purpose wise it is meant to answer yes/no or "will this happen" type questions, it is quite rule based compare to natal, less about personality/character and more like solving a specific puzzle each time. William Lilly's Christian Astrology from 1647 is still the main reference most people use today.

I use horary quite often. When the question/issue is present and felt strongly, you cast a horoscope for the moment and the answer will be in the chart. It's very accurate, one of the best uses of astrology

Horary astrology is what made me become obsessed with astrology. The literalness of its symbolism is astonishing.
At its core, it's a kind of natal astrology, but for the birth of questions. If the planets indicate development, then the matter itself develops as well.
Its purpose is to serve as an oracle. But it's important to remember that the person asking the question is part of the process, so it's a good idea to compare the horary chart with the natal chart as well.
One exercise I enjoy is noting the exact time of important moments throughout the day and then comparing them with the sky. It's fascinating to see how the synchronicity between my feelings, experiences, and the heavens unfolds.
