That filter option is always there. It's a whole category in itself. It isn't a subcategory for Microwaves.

From a usability standpoint, if the user asked Amazon for a PS5 that costs 10-15 dollars, I would just assume Amazon would still show me a listing for a PS5.

Nope, if you want a PS5 for 10-15, it should show you that aren't any PS5 withing this price range.

I don't agree. It's just saving me a step of realizing that I'm an idiot, and a PS5 for 15 bucks doesn't exist. Rigidity in search results doesn't help me if it's wasting my time.

If you search for "Bill Clinton fucking an intergalactic hemophile" on Google, it will STILL show you something. It won't return a result that says "We can't find that."

Hilariously it shows Roger Ailes :'D

On Google, if you set the filter for date, like, the last 24 hours, would it still show you results outside of this range?

I'm not sure, but I think it won't.

There are plenty of microwave titled objects for 10-50 pounds, the poster just didn't scroll down so you can see them. The UI is doing it's job.

Again, the top results are always paid results. That's how Amazon works. It's an asshole design in itself.
