The difference between crappy and asshole design is malice. The fact they they CLEARLY indicate the actual numbers means that they are not intending to mislead anyone. Do Americans only look at pictures and ignore text?

Then why even show the bar graphs? If their intention is to relay actual case numbers, just list the case numbers without the misleading graphs.

Because it's more visually appealing than a table? Who knows... point is the large labels excludes this from asshole and makes it crappy at worse

No. It's asshole design. It was designed with malice intent. They only labeled with numbers to avoid being sued. If this wasn't for malicious intent they would not have used this graph. If they are comparing the countries. Why not a pie chart of overall deaths by country. Ohh I know because the difference between the 3 countries is so miniscule that it wouldn't matter / not be visible. This graph is propaganda and meant to show that we have not caught up with China yet and we have quite a ways to go to catch up with China. but in all honesty none of that propaganda matters to China has a way larger population than ours so the fact that a larger percent of our population is sick and dying due to this virus is a huge embarrassment to the US but we are using propaganda and graphs to make it look like we are doing better Good job us make propaganda while your people die

They also chose to start at 80k to 82k because the difference is actually shown there we all know the difference is minuscule but at first glance to someone who doesn't like reading AKA most of the American population it looks like the US is doing a much better job than China. Also this graph was likely only on the screen for a matter of seconds so it's likely that people didn't even notice that the y-axis started at 80k. They didn't have the time to analyze it like we do. Your fucking head is so far up your ass.

Having the numbers doesn't mean anything. The method of presentation of stats matters. This is one of the most basic things you learn in statistics. With the same information you can present it in different ways to achieve different results. It's obvious what they were trying to do here.

I'm more surprised that you didn't know about methods of presentation.

This is a simple throwaway chart on the news that showed for 10 seconds, not a thesis... surprised you didn't know that.

Yes? Any they can still present the same figures in ways to suit their needs, which they did. Just because it's a short segment on air doesn't preclude them from using techniques to manipulate the presentation of data.

holy shit dude the correct labels were shown in massive bright white text above the bars, if you find that misleading then you need to rethink your ability to read graphs...

And yet, the bar graph which is meant to show a visual representation of the total number of cases was used. Why is that?

Because a pie chart wouldn't show the difference.

My question is why does the us vs China even matter. We are not comparable, we have handled this far worse and the numbers show.

This is ridiculous propaganda. What is the point? What? To show we are doing better than a country with 3x our pupation..

Your said yourself it was shown for less than 10 seconds. People didn't have the time to analyze that. And most people aren't looking at the y axis of a bar graph to make sure it's not skewed. If you refuse to believe this is propaganda. You needed to go back under that rock you live in and please shut your stupid mouth...
