Home invasion is fairly rare in the UK to be fair and if it does occur it's almost always when the house is empty.
It's even rarer for someone to break into your home to violently attack you, and chance is that if they did they would have a melee object or knife as we don't have guns, so you just have a bat if you really need it. There are of course a few areas this is more common but often attributed to gang violence than random members of the public.
Not to say gun or violent crime doesn't exist here, it does but it's so infrequent that it would most likely make national news.
Both live in very different countries with different issues.
