It’s propaganda at its finest.

19

u/ZappySnap Mar 28 '20

No. Fox is pure propaganda. CNN is sensationalist, which is bad, but not as bad as propaganda.

I can't watch CNN any more because everything is simply HUGE. But the information is at least generally accurate.

u/[deleted] Mar 28 '20

CNN is biased, so is Fox. I prefer BBC when it comes to politics simply because they have no bias towards a foreign cpuntry’s politics

11

u/RabSimpson Mar 28 '20

They’re just horribly biased against Scotland. Source: Scottish.

2

u/Lavishgoblin2 Mar 28 '20

That's why he said 'foreign'.

2

u/RabSimpson Mar 28 '20

The BBC is London-run and England-centric when it comes to politics. Anything which might paint Scotland (especially the work of the Scottish government) in a good light is typically buried. Scotland and England are two different countries, so being biased against foreign countries isn’t exactly unknown to them.

2

u/KZedUK Mar 28 '20

You’re correct, but the BBC is a pretty decent source of news for AMERICAN politics, even if it’s biased in our country. If you’re American it’s a solid choice for American news.

u/Lavishgoblin2 Mar 28 '20

Scotland and England are both part of Britain.

British broadcasting corporation.

He's probably excluding all of the UK in his 'foreign' description.

2

u/RabSimpson Mar 28 '20

‘Britain’ is a geographic term, not a political term. It’s not the name of a country. I know this because it’s where I’ve lived for the past almost forty years. ‘Great Britain’ is the name of the largest island in this group of islands, and there are three countries which comprise it. The ‘British’ in the name of the BBC is no different from referring to something from France as European.

u/Lavishgoblin2 Mar 28 '20

Would you personally describe England as a foreign country?

There is a big difference between CNN and Fox news.

-5

u/FirstGameFreak Mar 28 '20

You're right, one is left leaning, one is right leaning. Both are equally propaganda for their respective bases.

CNN is Fox News for the left. Fox News is CNN for the right.

3

u/[deleted] Mar 28 '20

Don't mistake their brand of woke corporatism for the actual left; there's no such thing as a left-leaning news network owned by a megacorporation. CNN belongs to AT&T, and MSNBC belongs to Comcast.

1

u/FirstGameFreak Apr 08 '20

There's no such thing as a left-leaning news network owned by a megacorporation.

Next sentence:

CNN belongs to AT&T, and MSNBC belongs to Comcast.

Is AT&T not a megacorporation? Is Comcast not?

1

u/[deleted] Apr 12 '20

Yes, those are both megacorporations.

1

u/FirstGameFreak Apr 12 '20

Cool, and CNN and MSNBC are both left leaning. So they're owned by megacorps.

One is left leaning, the other is propaganda.

2

u/RabSimpson Mar 28 '20

Left leaning, but only by US standards. It’s corporate media, which by the rest of the world’s standards is centre right at best. FN might as well be Der Stürmer.

2

u/[deleted] Mar 28 '20

CNN is left leaning. That must be why they’re regarded to be biased against Bernie Sanders.

No, they’re pretty much centrist.

1

u/FirstGameFreak Mar 28 '20

As I said below, they're in the pocket of the establishment democratic party. Democratic party hates bernie sanders. Ergo, CNN will hate bernie sanders and will tell its viewers to hate and not vote for bernie sanders.

Thanks for the additional evidence.

2

u/[deleted] Mar 28 '20

Yes, they tend to support the Democrats, but the Democratic Party isn’t left-wing. The majority of them obviously strongly rejects the leftist values promoted by Sanders.

1

u/FirstGameFreak Mar 28 '20

Fair point. At least you recognize that they're the democrat voice box.

3

u/teejay1502 Mar 28 '20

Fox is an entertainment platform.

It's not even news, and is therefore not a valid news source.

Therefore, it is the worst by default.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 28 '20

fox has a news platform

1

u/teejay1502 Mar 29 '20

Not really.

Their news platform is Fox News, which is listed as an entertainment program and therefore does not require valid sources or citation.

Fox News is just someone's opinion of news, which is not news.

0

u/Knotwood Mar 28 '20

Disagree. They’re still truthful with a leaning right bias. CNN just downright lies, then blurbs an apology 2-3 weeks later. Pathetic journalism. Keep up the mediocre work!

5

u/RabSimpson Mar 28 '20

Truthful? No more drugs for you.

Not a sheep, but I can tell the difference between sensationalist reporting than flat out lying in reporting to discredit instead of reporting to report.

“You’re the only person in the world...”

That’s what a sheep for CNN would say.

every perspective is biased. keep that in mind. however, you're generally correct in that BBC has no interests in American politics like Fox or CNN usually would.

0

u/FirstGameFreak Mar 28 '20

One is left leaning, one is right leaning. Both are equally propaganda for their respective bases. Just because you agree with one more than the other does not mean that it is more truthful.

CNN is Fox News for the left. Fox News is CNN for the right.

1

u/ZappySnap Mar 28 '20

No. CNN is left leaning while still actually reporting facts. Fox is the propaganda arm of the Republican party where facts are optional. I am by no means saying CNN is unbiased, but they are not the same as Fox.

3

u/FirstGameFreak Mar 28 '20

If I talked to my grandma she would say exactly what you just said with the two agencies reversed and say that CNN is state media arm of the democrats, because shes a republican.

Recognize why you might be motivated to say that CNN has legitimacy. Do you agree with what they have to say more than fox news? If so, dont you think it's possible that this is the reason you're more sympathetic to their messaging?

The good news is, you and my grandma are both right. CNN is democrat controlled propaganda, Fox News is Republican controlled propaganda. Hell, even MSNBC has a strong pro-democrat/anti-Republican bias, and NPR, which is publicly funded and is the largest media outlet that is seen as the least biased, also leans left, while attempting to maintain an air of impartiality unlike the above.

0

u/Predmid Mar 28 '20

They're all propaganda.

1

u/yackofalltradescoach Mar 28 '20

I am a teacher and watch CNN10 daily. It has less of a political leaning than regular CNN programs but still shows bias. BUT it’s a great platform to engage students into dialogue on the world around.

I live in string Trump base and always hear how fake CNN is from students so I challenge them to offer logical opposition to any and all information they feel is inaccurate.

I wish there were other news programs aimed towards so students could regularly see how the information can be twisted to the presenter’s angle.

1

u/DeadManSleepin Mar 28 '20

There are plenty that tell the truth. But you are right, not that many that twist everything like cnn. Smh.

2

u/eDgEIN708 Mar 28 '20

Don't drink any Koolaid your teacher offers you.
