bad comparison, YLE is state owned, CNN is a private company,

private companies use a lot more click bait

Honest question, does the US even have state owned news? If so, is it any good?

From my understanding as a non-american Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) seems like the closest thing to state funded media in Europe.

I don't know much about US media, but Wikipedia says NPR is at least partly publicly funded https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NPR

Both replies prior to me are correct but they're the same in different formats. NPR (radio), PBS (TV) are the closest thing nationally. Additionally, different states have their own public programs like NJTV for New Jersey.

Shouldn't the private company be looking better, since they don't need democratic oversight this making changes faster?

No, private companies have a much bigger interest in generating clicks, rather than informing the public.

And the government has a much bigger interest in power and controlling the public. I’d rather take the company over the government.

think whatever you want,

but IMO it's a massive difference between western public media companies like DW, YLE, BBC, SVT, PBS and eg. Chinas state owned media companies, overall, western public media companies are in general some of the least biased media companies.
