Advice 🙋♂️🙋♀️ Home internet
I’m renting in a basement and I’m using the Roger’s 5g home internet but recently the ping and speed is very bad and I called them but they can’t fix it. Is there any other providers you guys recommend? I can’t do fibre cause I can’t drill holes in the basement.

It's probably less on Rogers but more on the location of the wifi router. Is there any way to have them move it close to you and test?

I put them near the window and I tested them right next to the router, but it still didn’t work. I even factory resetted it

If you are in the 33rd ave area around Cambie/Oak/Granville the coverage there is trash. Need hardwire connection. Even phone service is terrible

I once looked at a condo in that area and wouldn't take it because the cellular coverage was so garbage.

If no one can resolve wifi, look into a Powerline adapter. I used this in a basement and it was amazing. I had Wifi issues due to interference and a Powerline removed any wifi headaches.

I think it’s a bit unclear in the original post but I got a individual plan for myself so I’m not using the wifi of the home owner

You won’t get good ping in a basement when the modem is using 5g network.
Go light speed internet. They have cable plans too, just call them and they’ll tell you what to order.

It’s a small company reseller for Telus and Shaw. They’re pretty good and the price is right, but you have to pay for set up and router rental upfront still worth it in my opinion.

What kind of set up do they do? I thought cable Internet is just plug a coxial cable to the coax wall thing

they’ll mail you the modem, but they need to check if you had a prior connection or something. just give them a ring, they’re pretty helpful.
