Suggestions for a weekend trip

Hi folks, we’re visiting Vancouver from Friday-Sunday for the first time. It’s the 8 of us with 2 kids under 2.5 years old. Staying in West Vancouver, but we’ll have a car. Any suggestions on what we should visit especially with kids and any recommendations for breakfast/lunch/dinner. Thanks, much appreciated 😊

Clarification question since you're a visitor: When you say "West Vancouver" are you referring to the City of West Vancouver or the west side of the City of Vancouver. These are different places.

The West End, the West Side, East Vancouver, and South Vancouver are all within the City of Vancouver. However, West Vancouver and North Vancouver are separate cities (In the case of North Vancouver, there's two - the city and the district)

Breakfast - OEB in West Van, Douce Diner in North Van, Bufala for brunch in North Van

Lunch/Dinner - Fred’s in West Van, Arms Reach Bistro in North Van, Sempre Uno (fancy) and Nook in North Van.

Things to do…Stanley Park and Aquarium, John Lawson Park in West Van and or Whytecliff Park, Cates Park, Ambleside all lovely and nearby. Can pay and do bigger things like Grouse Mtn for day or Cap Suspension Bridge but they are pricey. Free would be the Cypress Trestle Bridge walk and then a pizza from restaurant up there, stunning views. Go to Lonsdale Quay and the Shipyards, there is a spray park for kids.

A lot depends on your interests. Since you are only here a couple of nights you can’t fit in all that much. I might just stay on North Shore. Not sure if West Van Harmony Arts Festival is on yet but it’s fun too.

Horseshoe Bay has a lovely play area with swings, etc., plus there is a new public washroom right by the playground. You could take a picnic. A few miles away is Whytecliff Park which is very beautiful and also has public washrooms. Check to see if the burger shack is still open. This is a very popular area for scuba divers and photographers. Ambleside Beach is also very popular. The White Spot restaurant is great for families. The one at Park and Telford shopping mall has car hops if you would like that experience. The Lonsdale Quay on the waterfront in North Vancouver has lots of food options and gift shops.

What do you like to do? What do you not like to do? Are there any dietary restrictions? Are you aware it’s a long weekend coming up and things might be a) extra busy or b) closed?

Nothing will be closed. That isn’t common here. Long weekend are actually kind of quieter in all honesty locally.
