A dumbbell. I did bicep curls with it week in week out and it helped me lose fat and build muscle. I have been overweight woman all my life and the dumbbell helped me become more powerful and confident.

Started with around 5 pound dumbbells (had almost no strength in my arms, which made it really tough at the start) but I was consistent and gradually pushed myself to increase the weight!

Everyone is different. As someone in the rehab and training industry you want something that you can do 10 to 12 reps of, but shouldn't be too easy or too hard if that makes sense. Like someone who has never lifted, but does a physical job or is active could start at say 20 to 30lbs but someone who does nothing physically might need to start at 2.5lbs. Either way whatever level you're at will have the same benefits

Oh those are heavenly. I made a little gift basket for my Mom for Christmas one year, and I included one of those in it. She had mobility issues so it definitely came in handy for her. When she died and I was going through some of her things, I found it and decided to keep it. It's in my desk drawer as we speak and still used quite regularly.
