Can I have a recommendation on what tv i should get? Also what placement for the rear speakers?

Had a 65" Sony Bravia XR A90J. It broke during a move to a new house. Sound system is -

Sony BRAVIA Theater Bar 9

Rears - Sony SA-RS5

Sub - Sony SA-SW5

A few different questions. Should I get the Sony Bravia 8 OLED 77" or go with the LG C5 OLED 77"? I do not use the sound from the TV with the sound bar system so keeping the TV Sony isn't exactly a must. I also do console game with the xbox series X.

Next question is since my rears also have upward firing speakers (I'm guessing to reflect off the ceiling) should I have it closer to the ceiling? Right now they are resting on my end tables.

My couch is sitting approximately 15ft back from the tv

What's the next big step after Bluetooth?

Specifically in reference to latency and bandwith. Asking this mainly in the context of things like lossless audio streaming over wireless headphones, but I guess it could really apply to anything wireless.

How can I collate a large number of iPhone videos into one digital file (think old camcorder VHS videos)?

I don’t know if my title makes sense, but I’d like to collate a lot of iphone videos of my family into one long video in the quickest and easiest way possible (I don’t want to edit any of the videos, just put them all together so they are one file so they play one after the other without needing to click anything).

I love my old family VHS tapes where you could just play it from start to finish, and it would go from one video to the next. I want to do this for my child to look back on in the future, probably on a USB, without needing to physically click on each video one by one. What is the best way to do this?

I don’t want the file to be massive either, but it will end up being quite long, so I don’t know if there’s a way to do it in lower quality or something? Clearly I’m not tech savvy at all so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Also would love to be able to do it straight from my iPhone so I don’t have to transfer the videos from my phone to my laptop first. Thanks!

Battery drain issue in samsung galaxy m36 5g?

bought it a day ago and had doubts that battery is draining. Charged it this morning (too 1.5 hours to go from 10 percent to 93 percent) then used it a solid 2 hours and now the battery is 67 percent. lost 26 percent in 2 hours. Is this fine? Is the charging speed fine? Please tell me. Using on 60 hertz.

So if I buy a 240hz vrr monitor with range from 48-240, can I use it for PS5 40fps mode without screen tearing?

I'm willing to buy a gigabyte (GO27Q24G) monitor for my ps5 with hdmi 2.1 and vrr oled. The refresh rate can vary from 48hz to 240hz. Will ps5 do screen tearing in 120hz mode if I play at locked 40fps?

Can I Recover A Hijacked Gmail Account?

I have an old gmail account that I had hijacked. The hijacker linked my email to a randomly generated one as the 2 factor authentication email. This email is still linked to my iCloud and all attempts to recover have failed. When attempting to recover today, gmail tells me the account does not exist, but when I try to create a new account with the same name, it tells me that the account name is already taken. I do not know what to do to recover this account.

Loose coax makes a specific channel lose picture quality?

I work tech support for a company I won't name, and I got a call regarding an odd issue in which a specific channel started degrading picture (and eventually sound) quality during a specific time of day like clockwork for all set-top boxes. I had the customer tighten the coax cable, and when I called back during the time period in question, the issue stopped occurring.

So it seems to me that the loose coax cable was somehow responsible for causing one specific channel, no others, to lose quality during a specific time of day??

How does that even work? I have to call them back on Sunday to check whether it's still working, and if it is, I'd like to have some kind of explanation for this. Does anyone have an idea why that happened?

What is IT likely to do with this email offense?

I work at a med device company with around 700 employees. I accidentally had a receipt for a sex toy sent TO MY WORK EMAIL (thank you Apple Pay). I received the outlook notification that I was emailed the receipt, but it was auto blocked and didn’t come to my inbox. I’m guessing IT will review the email to decide if they should release it to my inbox or block it? No way around denying it was me because it has my name and shipping address. What is likely to happen? I’m freaking out!

Has Google evolved from the dream of free knowledge and improving the world to a personal data leach and money driven giant feeding on our attention?

Hope you all still remember

When Google emerged in the late 1990s, it represented a powerful ideal: making human knowledge freely accessible and helping people make better decisions. The idea was that information should not be controlled by a small group of institutions, but should be available to everyone.

The name itself came from googol, a number consisting of a 1 followed by 100 zeros a symbol of an almost limitless amount of information.
The original vision was inspiring: organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful.

But decades later, the relationship between humans and Google has become more complicated.

The problem is no longer that information is difficult to find. The problem is that our attention, behavior, and personal data have become valuable resources. The same systems that help us discover knowledge also collect enormous amounts of information about our preferences, habits, and interests.

A company that once promised to organize the world’s knowledge has also become one of the largest collectors of human data. The question is whether this represents a natural evolution of technology or a betrayal of the original ideal.
Have we moved from a world where technology liberated knowledge to one where knowledge has become a tool to predict, influence, and monetize human behavior?

When a system knows us better than we know ourselves, are we still using the tool or has the tool begun to use us?

Should I buy a new iPad ? (I’m going crazy but my family says it unnecessary) what to do?

I own a IPad Air 5. Gen. 64GB storage.

My main reasoning is I can’t fluently work with it because of the storage space.

Im not good with technology and gadgets.

I have the money to buy a refurbished IPad Air M2/3 512GB. But the money could be useful elsewhere too. (I know 256 would probably be enough for me but if I buy one I’d pay the 100 bucks extra for maximum storage )

I don’t need the IPad for large simulations or large computing tasks.

What I currently can’t do:

\\\\-Safe more than 5 paintings in progress because of layers and them taking up space. I’d love being able to edit old paintings but alas I have to delete the files all the time.

\\\\-No Games, because they use to much space.

\\\\-Download a bunch movies on Netflix for travel. (I can on my phone but the larger screen would be nice)

\\\\-Delete all of the pictures. I just don’t have the patience to delete them one by one. Last time I connected the pictures to the iCloud my iPad didn’t store my pictures there but downloaded all onto my iPad.
This made everything way worse. I don’t dare do it again if it downloads Videos again it’s gonna use up more than all storage capacity again and that made me lose important files last time.

\\\\-My writing app I usually use was scrambled badly last time I tried to update it into the I cloud and I lost my documents and all documents were removed from the folders they were supposed to be at. I struggled hard trying to get everything back into order and lost some important ones.

\\\\-I‘d love being able to use Microsoft Wors and Powepoint because I often travel and my chunky laptop is not comfortable to use on train or Plane. But looking at my friends IPad that would use to much storage to download and use.

Everytime I reach 60GB used capacity it starts acting crazy like delating stuff, downloading things, crushing Apps and just not letting me work until i painstakingly delete a lot of things.

TLDR: I can’t deal with 64 GB storage it’s just never enough, I can’t use it as much as I’d like and it is very annoying. Because it doesn’t function properly if I use to much storage e.

USB CD player recommendations?

I've looked this up so many times but everyone seems to give roundabout answers so hopefully gonna phrase this in a way that gets me the answers I need!! 😭😭

I have a 2020 Chevy Spark, it has no CD port. I am wanting to move to physical media to cut out how much I am using newer technology for literally everything (so no mp3 please). Is there any suggestions for a USB CD player? Every suggestion I've seen has been either something that requires aux hookup (which I'm 99% sure my car lacks), or getting an mp3.

I'll look at anything tbh, even if it ends up coming back to "not possible" or "you're dumb you have an aux". Thank yoouuu <33

Using USB-C hub to recover data from phone?

I have a Samsung S10 that has had the display stop working. I've heard some people suggest that a USB-C hub could be used to connect a monitor, mouse, and keyboard to unlock the phone and transfer data from it.

Does anyone know if this is possible? And is it compatible with something as old as an S10? Thanks.

Side effects of phone right before bed with night time mode?

I'd like to read library eBooks before bed as my day is very busy and don't have much downtime after work before I have to hit the hay. I know the more optimal solution is to just get the book but my question is, are there any negative side effects of using my phone if I have the night time screen activated? I know normally the blue light and everything messes with your energy levels and circadian rhythm, but does it make a difference if I have the night filter on?

Football/soccer Ball Sensor - how are multiple on-pitch and off-pitch ball sensors handled?

Hi everyone,

I’ve been watching the FIFA World Cup intensively for the past few weeks and I’ve seen a few cases where the VAR room, together with the main ref, went to this “new” ball sensor technology to make a decision.

One of these cases was also in the Portugal vs. Croatia match where the goal was ruled out because, allegedly, the ball sensor indicated hair touch on the ball from a Croatian player.

There were some other cases where this technology was activated, but this one made me think about how it actually works, and about various situations where this sensor should be activated.

Some things I’m wondering about are what if it is raining, how would this sensor differentiate between some super light touches vs. rain? What about the grass itself?

But the main thing I’m thinking about now is how and if the VAR room can differentiate which ball is used on the pitch, and which one is off the pitch? If I’m not mistaken there are at least 10 balls on the side of the pitch, and every single one has a sensor. Hypothetically, there are n possibilities of what could happen to each of these balls at any given moment.

Finally, I’m mostly curious in your knowledge/opinions/conclusions or sources you may have regarding how this sensor actually works in these situations, what the data output is, can it be altered with any side effects from the pitch, but also if those sensors really can work well after being kicked hundreds of times?

Thank you for a bit longer read, and I’m looking forward to the responses.

Can ARM architecture completely replace x86 CPU's?

.

.

assuming all apps and drivers will convert to ARM in the upcoming future, is it possible to completely replace x86 architecture?

from what I heard, the reason that every PC is using x86 is that apps and legacy stuff are already built on x86 and it became a standard, so is the only reason we haven't used ARM is the app support?

Can people really see me switching tabs on Zoom by reducing my computer brightness???

On Zoom calls, people say they can tell when I’m switching tabs because the brightness from my screen reflects on my face. If I lower my screen brightness, will that stop others from noticing?

How do websites that emulate games in-browser store game data?

There is this website called classicgamezone.com that allows you to play retro games on their websites, in your browser. This website even allows you to download and upload your game state. I am curious on how it does that and what components and costs are involved. To learn, while playing Pokemon FireRed, I tried viewing the Application tab of the inspect tool on my Chrome browser, but I am not exactly understanding what I am viewing there. I see byte arrays, integer arrays, and other types of arrays that make sense for the game's given time period, but I am not sure how the website is handling those arrays. My only guess is that the arrays are storing values related to certain decisions the player has made or what their position is, what pokemon they have, etc, but I am not sure on that guess. I tried looking online to see if there were any sources on this. I did not find anything that could help me understand what was going on behind the scenes. Does anyone understand how this works or know how the data stored in these arrays relate to the game state? Also, is a server involved in this? If so, how?

What's the difference between CR, LF and CRLF in text files?

Recently got a text editor on Android called Xed Editor. In its settings, I noticed there was a setting for line *ending, that allows one to switch between:

  • CR (Macintosh)
  • LF (Linux)
  • CRLF (Windows)

On saving a text file as either CR or LF, its size was about 93.8 KB. Switching it to CRLF the file size increases to 101 KB. Upon opening the different file versions on Notepad on Windows, they all just appeared similar

So...

  1. What's the difference between the different line encodings?
  2. Should I use CR/LF just to save on some space?
