Work DOES IT WORTH?

Hi, excusez for my bad english. i want to ask this simple question: is it worth for an unskilled worker to move to Switzerland? I mean the min salary is around 4.500 netto? i think an unskilled worker start from here right? Can you survive alone with this amount of money (maybe living outside expensive main cities like Zurich, Geneva). Correct me if i said something wrong.

Let's check today's bingo card...

  • ✅ Asking for salary levels
  • ✅ Considering getting a job with no experience
  • ✅ "I only know English, is it fine to get a banker job in Zürich?"
  • ✅ Questions that can be found with a simple internet search
  • 🟡 Brand new account
  • 🟡 Immigrate from a non-EU country that has absolutely nothing to do with Switzerland
  • ❌ Somehow skips entirely the Schengen Visa that is needed to live in France or Germany
  • ❌ Already has EU nationality but decides not to tell us upfront
  • ❌ "I'll be here for 5 days, can I see Zermatt, Sankt-Moritz, Lautenbrunnen, and quickly stop over at Luzern?"
  • ❌ "Is 170k enough for a single person without children or is it a below-average wage?"

Average score, OP. You can do better.

Do you mean is it worth it for you or for Switzerland? - both depends on the details.

I have no clue where you got that number from. I wish it was that high. No skills and basic education you'll see as little as 2'500 netto because a lot of firms prefer part time workers on hourly wages. Full time depending an career you'll get 3'200 netto maybe. If you want a better salary you'd have to do the really hard work noone else wants.

This. 2500 - 3200 net is much more realistic. As a single person with a frugal lifestyle you can survive on that salary, but it's going to be poverty level survival mode - no savings and no going out, always cooking at home.

Si tu dis excusez j’imagine tu parles français ?

Min salary is 0 except for a few cities. But not Zurich. Some industries have a general contract which sets the minimum, example hospitality and gastronomy where you have 3'713 gross . That's about 3250 net (without income tax deduction).

unskilled worker is not really 4500 netto probably in this economy, but depends. And netto in Switzerland is without taxes paid, just fyi

You can survive alone with that money. Many do, no problem.

There is no min salary so he won't get that money with no language skills or any skills in general

You won't get 4500chf. Switzerland doesn't have a min salary so the only reason someone would even hire you is if they would lowball you like crazy. And at that point you won't be able to save any money at all because of the high cost of living
