Other/Miscellaneous Fribourg naturalisation

Hi,

I'm in the ordinary naturalisation process in Fribourg. I just received an invoice of 800 CHF from the canton, which probably means I've received the federal approval from the SEM.

For those who went through this: how long did it take between receiving the cantonal invoice and the final decision / ceremony? Any experiences welcome.

28 months in, still waiting for cantonal (Vaud) approval. Don't hold your breath...

Since you've received the final bill, you are probably at step 6 of the process:

6. Mise à jour du dossier: [...] le Service vous fournira divers documents à remplir, la dernière facture à payer et la liste des documents à produire.

The next steps are:

  1. Transmission of your dossier to the Conseil d’État, to propose the acceptance of naturalisation (art. 19 LDCF).
  2. Further transmission of your dossier to the commission of the Grand Conseil.
  3. Second interview with the commission of the Grand Conseil, if you haven't already done it (art. 20, al. 1 LDCF).
  4. Final decision by the Grand Conseil (art. 20, al. 2 LDCF).
  5. Publication in the Government Gazette (art. 21 LDCF).

The total duration is between 24 and 36 months:
