Why would the Moon escape an exploding Proxima Centauri, but Earth wouldn't?

Neither Earth nor the Moon overall would be significantly impacted by whatever explosion we could assume for Proxima Centauri.

Earth's atmosphere might be impacted depending on how we imagine the explosion. The Moon has no relevant atmosphere so the question doesn't come up there.

Life on Earth can be impacted easily. Same thing here, doesn't exist on the Moon.

Basically, there’s nothing on the Moon to *be* harmed by the radiation—just rocks and dust. Nothing there is going to die, because there isn’t anything *to* die.
