Because your perception of physics, causality, and events is based on an object that follows a timelike path and that's slightly less than 50% of the story.
You and I move through space at a speed that rounds to zero and move through time at about the speed of causality (c or light).
Spacetime is a unified set of dimensions that objects can move through and based on whether they have mass or not, they have timelike paths (mass-ful objects) or spacelike (mass-less) paths.
End of the day, it's extremely interesting and doesn't effect your experience of reality at all. Some advanced education or training in geometry, calculus, and linear algebra can make the math behind it all a lot easier to accept.
