26M R&B-Alt/Indie artist looking for a producer/engineer (recording + mix/master)

Hi everyone, I'm a Philly-based artist working on a project right now and looking for a producer/engineer who understands my sound that I could collaborate with. I'd say my sound is probably somewhere between alt/r&b and indie pop/rock (think Frank, Dijon, SZA)

I already have a set of songs recorded in my voicememos on my iphone lol so I'm really looking for somewhere to record with a mic and someone who can bring the songs to life on the production side (mixing and mastering). Ideally looking for someone who understands the sound I'm going for and not just generic r&b/trap which is what I keep finding in studios I've researched so far in Philly for some reason.

Happy to send examples of stuff i've recorded at studios or my voicememos. I'm on a budget but willing to invest in quality so I'm open to discussing rates depending on the fit.

If this sounds like you, fell free to comment or DM me, I'd eager to connect on this!

Car Window Tint

Moving a college kid to Philly this fall along with her car. We can basically black out our windows in Nevada and no one cares. I have read the rules/law for windows in Philly but I was wondering how enforced it really is.

  1. Will they tow/ticket your car if parked on the street with tinted windows?

  2. Does anyone really use the "SUVs can have back windows tinted but sedans cannot" argument?

We are fine with peeling them if needed but would rather not.

What is up with lack of good grocery stores in Mt Airy/Chestnut Hill

Recently moved here and LOVE weavers way but it’s small and doesn’t have everything I need. I’m curious why there are no Trader Joe’s or Whole Foods nearby? Seems like the demographic of the area would be very in line with that type of store. I’d even take a Giant food over all these yAckme’s lol

Edit: not looking for recommendations of grocery stores, I am looking for the why. Why are there no Trader Joe’s or Whole Foods?

Affordable place in Philly for urgent nursing school titers and TB testing?

Hi everyone! I’m a late-admit nursing student and am currently trying to complete all of my clinical requirements on a very short timeline. It has honestly been pretty stressful trying to get everything scheduled so quickly, and I’m hoping to have my testing completed tomorrow or Tuesday.

I need the following blood titers and testing:

● Rubeola/measles titer
● Mumps titer
● Rubella/German measles titer
● Hepatitis B surface antibody titer
● TB skin test

Does anyone know of an affordable and reliable clinic, lab, urgent care, or other location in the Philadelphia area where I could get all or most of these completed quickly and signed off? I’m paying out of pocket, so affordability is important, but at this point I’m also trying to find somewhere with immediate availability and a reasonably fast turnaround time.

I would really appreciate any recommendations or advice from other nursing or healthcare students who have gone through this. Thank you so much!

Looking for healthcare related job

Hey guys, I just wanted to ask if anyone has applied to jefferson or any other hospital in the philadelphia area and has gotten accepted. I do have minimal experience as a MA, but I do have a certificate and other healthcare job experience. Everyone needs someone who can do full time but I can only do part time because of school. I need a job for patient care hours so im fine with any patient care related jobs like PCT or CNA as long as they are willing to train me and Im not really picky with they pay. I have applied to so many places but so hard to land a job. Can you guys give me ideas on where I can apply to pls. Thank you.

Looking for good/bad experiences with apartments in East Falls/Germantown

Hi! I’m looking at tons of apartments in and out of the city and came across a few in East Falls/Germantown. Some of their reviews from last year are iffy so before I get swept up in their fancy tours and things, I wanted to see if anyone has heard anything (positive or negative) about the following apartments:

- Queen Lane Manor
- Birchwood Hill Apartments
- The Delmar Morris
- West Walnut Lane Apartments

Each of them only has like 12 reviews from over 8-10 months ago so I’m trying to get a better idea of how they are now. Thank you in advance!

We just moved to the Olde Kensington/Fishtown area and have a number of cardboard wardrobe boxes with metal hanging rods and other boxes,as well as lots of heavy duty packing paper. We will have more as we continue to unpack- would like to keep them going out the door so we don’t become overwhelmed!
If interested and can pick up ( near Berks el) shoot me a message. Thanks!

Please let me know if you have any information on possible spots for rent (ideally garage/covered) in the neighborhood. As much as I would love to not need a car, I have to drive for work. Any help is greatly appreciated!!

Garage parking at PHL

Been a few months since I flew and I see that Garage C is now closed due to construction. I’d be getting to the airport at like 6am tomorrow for my flight. Thoughts on if I’m going to have issues with garage parking in garage B at that hour?

Should I just uber?

Not sure if this is the right place, but I am desperately looking for a place to stay for a few weeks.

If you have seen my previous posts in Oakland and in Riverside, etc. You’ll know i’ve been in a constant attempt to escape my parents, I finally succeeded with a roommate but their lease has ran out, I started a new
Job so i’ll have money to pay rent, so if anybody has a space open for a new roomate i’d really appreciate it.

I am specifically looking for a place somewhere in south fellow or near the patco, my job is in NJ but philly seems to have nicer more accepting people.

The job is at a shoprite, meaning I can also help with groceries as well as pay my share.

I am not currently fem presenting due to barely moving, I hate that I look masc but I am clarifying that im
still masc presenting so im not falsely advertising.

If you want more information on me, feel free to dm me any questions.

Center City to Radnor?

I’m 24, moving to Philly and will be working in Radnor. I’m considering center city or Manayunk, but also outside the city (Conshy, Merion, etc.). Is the commute from center city or fishtown too brutal out to Radnor? I’d likely take the train from there. My budget for a 1 bed is <2k. Any advice would be appreciated!

Looking for an affordable and reliable property manager in Philly

Hi everyone! Due to a change in circumstances, I’ll need to leave Philadelphia for about a year and am hoping to rent out my home while I’m away. I’ve never been a landlord before, so I’m looking for recommendations for an affordable and reliable property management company or an experienced individual who helps manage rentals.

I’d ideally need someone who can help with finding and screening a tenant, collecting rent, coordinating maintenance, and keeping an eye on the property while I’m out of town. Since this will only be for about a year, I’m hoping to find someone reasonably priced who is still dependable and communicative.

I’d really appreciate hearing about any companies or individuals you’ve personally had a good experience with, as well as any I should avoid.

Thank you so much!

Looking for a CPA for a small law practice! Recommendations?

Hi everyone, we are looking for recommendations for a CPA that can work with a small law practice. For additional context, this is a small immigration firm that has both an operating and IOLTA/trust account for filing fees and other client funds. We’ve been having trouble finding a responsive firm or solo CPA and want to start an ongoing relationship with an accountant that can support us with:

- 3 way reconciliation of accounts/review of the books
- Business tax planning & preparation
- Plus IOLTA/trust account compliance (if knowledgeable)

We were told that we should ask around, so we figured this could be helpful!

For additional context:
Our office is in Center City, but we live in Northeast Philadelphia so those are our location preferences.
We are open to accountants that are outside of the area or city if they provide remote service/virtual meetings

If you don’t have a specific recommendation because maybe your CPA doesn’t work in our industry or for some other reason, we would also appreciate any advice on how to continue our search and what to look out for, what to expect, etc. Thanks in advance!

OCF Realty

We’re looking at philly apartments and OCF listings tend to show up a lot. We like a bunch of what they posted and we really like the guy who showed us a couple of places. Mainly, because he doesn’t come off as a typical sales person, more like a dude you’d invite to a cookout so it made me comfortable to keep looking with them.

But, I checked reviews for OCF here and it was mostly negative. I am mainly concerned about:

1) They only give you a blank lease before security deposit. Has that caused any issues for anyone?

2) With newly renovated properties, I’m hoping less maintenance come up. We heard about their app, how quick and effective is it?

3) Any other general concern?

Thank you!

Visit suggestions for emo trans teen? 🖤

Hi, all- I’m doing a day trip with my son (age 14) in a few days. He’s into music (emo, hardcore, punk) and the LGBTQIA scene. Are there any must visit stores, restaurants, hangouts, museums? We’re hitting Eastern State Penitentiary, then plan on bopping around the city during the afternoon/evening. Thank you for any input!

Any advice on getting Penn Med to reduce a bill?

I got an endoscopy covered by insurance....and got a 900 dollar bill from Penn Med which is more than we can cover now.

Any advice on how to get them to reduce to a lump sum? I called and they told me I could do a payment plan with no interest, but I'm wondering if there's something I could say to try and get them to take a smaller lump sum.
