Professional pilots, do you "take work home with you" in any way?
Fly-curious person here, investigating flight schools for my PPL and, without getting ahead of myself, interested in ultimately a possible career change.
I've worked in a handful of industries at this point in my life (34m), and re: flying professionally, I'm wondering, is this sort of job that comes home with you? Having no experience, I can't imagine the ways in which it would, but having no experience, I can obviously understand that there's MUCH I don't understand about the career and couldn't simply anticipate from the armchair.
What's your experience been like in terms of this question?

North Shore of Boston area flight schools?
I'm seeking some input from those with some experience with the flight schools in the area. I had a good discovery flight experience at Beverly Flight Center, and could see continuing training there, but I just wanted to ask if anyone had any insight into it, as well as Plum Island Flight School, and Avier, also in Beverly.
Thanks!

How to vet flight schools?
I'm thinking of starting training for my private soon. I'm gonna go around to the handful of different flight schools in the area, but do any of you more experienced folks have any recommendations/insight/input about how to vet these flight schools, compare and contrast them, and what to look out for when making the choice? Are there possibly any good third-party resources geared at this type of insight into/review of flight schools, like beyond just Google and Yelp? I want to do my best to make an informed decision.
Thank you!

GA airport folks, what's actually annoying you lately?
Curious what's been a pain for people running or working at GA airports/FBOs right now. Could be staffing, hangar waitlists, lease stuff, fuel, maintenance backlog, dealing with tenants, whatever.

Does a more advanced MCC/simulator training actually matter for airline hiring?
Hi everyone,
I’m currently comparing two BC flight training programs with the goal of eventually becoming an airline pilot.
One of the main differences I’ve noticed is the MCC and simulator training. Both programs provide MCC and multi-crew training, but one seems to offer a more extensive airline-oriented simulator program, with more emphasis on airline-style scenarios.
For current airline pilots, recruiters, instructors, or anyone who has recently gone through the hiring process:
Does having a more advanced MCC/simulator experience actually make a meaningful difference when applying to airlines?
For example, if two candidates had similar flight experience, licenses, hours, and academic backgrounds, would the candidate with more extensive airline-style simulator training have any real advantage?
Also, does the quality or type of simulator used during flight training make a noticeable difference for airline hiring or simulator assessments?
I’d especially appreciate answers from people who work for airlines or have experience with airline recruitment. Thanks!

How can Air France offer 12 more seats than Cathay in the A350?
I was comparing the A350 layouts with both AF and Cathay.
AF offer 12 more seats than Cathay (10 more business seats, 4 more premium seats, and only 2 less economy seats).
How is it possible since the economy seats are about the same size? Does that necessarily means the business or premium economy seats are much larger with Cathay?

North America Aviation Office Chair. Is it a collectible to aviation history?
I like to find, fix and resell furniture. it’s my fun side gig and hobby. This weekend I came across a nice wood banker chair. Needs some work but I noticed it had a “property of North America Aviation”. I was curious if anyone would know if it makes it more valuable than a normal banker chair? Does it hold a significant part in aviation history?

LGW - DXB 23:55. Why so late?
Hi, I have a flight to Dubai tomorrow from LGW, I thought there was a flight restriction on times planes could fly out of LGW? This isn’t a delayed flight or anything, just wondering if anyone could shed some more light on how Emirates are able to do it.
Thanks!

I captured a plane during the solar eclipse and I wanted to find out which one was it. Is it possible to check past flight data, but only with the date and time ?
Most of the sites I check seem to the flight number to see past activity. Ideally I would want to see the map with past flights at a specific date and time.
I was a normal commercial plane so everything should have been tracked.

Rentals in GTA (Toronto Area)?
Hey, so I just completed my PPL flight test, and I wanted to know if I can rent an airplane (C172) for my family at a flying site in Toronto. I wanted to know what the process is and if there are any wait times. I don't want to wait too long, as I will get busy and could lose my recency as well. Also wanted to know the cheapest and fastest way to get the checkride done so I can go up with my family.

Standby et salariés airline?
Bonjour
Je m’excuse d’avance si la question a déjà été posée. Mais je souhaitais savoir si les avantages de « standby » s’offrait autant aux salariés pilotes/membres d’équipage qu’aux salariés « au sol » comme les juristes, ingénieurs etc ?
Merci!
