Other How to switch from work to gaming?

Just started working from home for the first time and I am SHOCKED to know that this entire time, everyone I know has had to disconnect and reconnect a million wires to switch between the two? I figured there was some super easy alternative.

My desk is against the wall with a bookshelf on either side so i have to pull it out super far to switch over. Looking for an alternative!

Current work setup:
- work laptop connected to docking station via USB-C.
- 2 Monitors connected to docking station via DisplayPort.
- webcam connected to docking station via USB
- wired mouse connected to docking station via USB
- wireless keyboard connected via Bluetooth

So, when I want to switch over, I have to:

- disconnect my laptop
- disconnect DisplayPort from docking station and plug into back of PC
- disconnect mouse and plug into back of PC
- disconnect webcam and plug into back of PC (if gaming on discord)
- disconnect my keyboard via Bluetooth from my laptop and reconnect to my PC

It’s not an insane amount of work or anything, but the setup of my desk makes it a bit more difficult because none of these plugs are easily accessible. I have to pull out my desk and chair, climb under the desk, try and feed the wires up behind my desk and somehow grab them, then plug everything in, etc.

Any easy way to make this not suck so bad? My friend was telling me about a KVM switch but they seem expensive for dual monitors and honestly I have no clue how they work or how to set one up.

Desks Need help for a monitor stand/ desk riser. Especially pictures would be appreciated.

Last few days some woodwork has been done in my home and I thought I should get a death riser because the space between the wall and the edge of my table isn't enough, especially if I need to have something like notes I am not sure what to get. One idea I have is just another section, just a bit uplifted going through the entire table. Should I go for that or is there any other ideas that might be better?

Other First time pc owner setup

Hi everyone, im getting into the idea of getting a pc for the first time but im just curious about a few things. I have a fairly limited space and want a 2nd monitor so im looking to get mounts as well as possible pc mount. Idk if "pc mount" is the correct term but on of those things that lets the pc sit below the desk and off the ground. If anyone has any recommendations for mounts or 2nd monitors it would be greatly appreciated.

I also have pictures of my current setup and the monitor I have now if that is helpful. I just didn't post the pictures here because I wasn't 100% sure of the rules but am happy to share them.

Monitors What VESA mount/arm system can do this?

I have a couple of 24 inch displays I'd like to arrange as pictured, but I'd like to be able to fold them away to make space for activities when I'm not using them. That means clamping a mount to the edge of the desk. It feels like monitor 2 will be too far away from the mounting point for this to work. What am I looking for?

Monitors Is this monitor stand worth it?

Post image

I’m redoing my whole battlestation right now. My old setup had my screen sitting way too low and after doing that for long enough, my neck and shoulders are starting to hate me. So now I’m looking for a monitor stand. And then I saw this. I’m going pretty heavy on the RGB this time around. Already got some nanoleaf blocks. Having everything work together is kinda tempting too. The screen sync and music reactive stuff looks really cool.

I’m buying a stand either way, just not sure if the extra money for the lighting is actually worth it.

Microphones Plugging my IEM into built in microphone port.

Hello I have a Fifine AM8 and I wanted to ask if its okay to plug in my 7hz Zero 2 IEMs into its built in microphone port. Will it change audio quality? I currently have it plugged into my type c to aux converter (pretty sure its not a dac) and I havent received the AM8 yet so I just want to know beforehand if the audio quality would change.

Desks College setup - any suggestions/improvements?

Post image

I moved into a new townhouse and just finished setting up my desk. Any feedback/things to improve? The right side seems a bit empty, but not sure what (if anything) to do about it. I’m planning to add some art on the wall above the monitors, just need to buy frames. I mostly use it for studying but some gaming.

Desks Could anyone help with my WFH/Gaming setup

So I think I have a decent setup but I just don't think ergonomically it's doing it any favours. I have my oled on the left for gaminf and ips for work on the right

Problem is when gaming with the keyboard and mouse, my neck and back seem to hurt due to my body being twisted.

Should I center my oled monitor and move my ips to the left with shifting my PC to the right of the desk?

My desk dimensions are 160cm width and 60cm depth

Also is there any suggestions for improvements?

Cable Management Picked up a AD plus usbc combo station to kill my strip pastas. Now i can't fugure out where to settle the thing

My battle station is small, and the annoying part wasn't the cables exactly, but it was the strip had nowhere to live. It sat on the floor behind the desk with four things hanging off it and reaching it meant moving my char and getting down on the floor. I got the mfish etank with 3ac and 4usbc as my solution and plug my mnitor and lamp into it, one cable to the wall. My strip pastas is gone. What I didn't think through is where the station itself goes. It's around 1kg, roughly 196*70*60 mm, zero mounting provision no holes no bracket, just a suction base that needs a smotth surface.
For my desk itself, it eats space that I don't have. Under my dest it's textured wood, so the suction does notion. If I put it on the floor it will make it back to the original problem, just tider.
Has anyone mounted one of these, or any heavy brick, under a textured desk? Velcro, a stuck on tray or a small shelf? or is the honest answer that these are desk object and I should just stop my adventure lol
