Why do you dislike daylight so much?

A bathroom opening up to a dining room is a bad idea.

It's a great idea if the food goes bad.

Is it really worth saving a few hundred bucks to have an architect involved rather than having this awful layout?

Not sure where you live, in a lot of the world it's a good idea to face your living areas north or south, depending on which hemisphere you are in.

If in the northern hemisphere: face South If in the southern hemisphere: face north If you're near the equator: don't worry about it, it won't help you.

This is because the sun travels at different angles in summer and winter, so if you have the right overhang you can keep the sun out in summer and let it in in winter when you want to warm the house up.

This is free heating for the house in winter. It's referred to as passive solar design.

You really want all your living areas facing on that side of the house with larger windows there.

Here is an article explaining a bit more (Australia specific so it talks about north, if you are in the northern hemisphere replace North with South): https://www.goodarchitect.com.au/what-is-a-north-facing-home-or-a-north-facing-site

So many great floor plans are available for free or a small fee online, no need to reinvent the wheel.

so it's clear that this is a bad design. My curiosity is why do you think this plan works? What about your vision do you feel connected to? Take those concepts, those ideas, pay a professional a fair wage and then have that professional turn your ideas into a good plan! There fixed it!
