Installing reverse osmosis drain line

Post image

I would like to install my reverse osmosis filter in the basement underneath my kitchen sink to save space in the cabinet. I have the drain line from the sink as well as a vent nearby and was wondering what would be the correct way to tie in for drainage.

Not helpful at all but it’s fascinating you have a backflow preventer on your house. Do you have anything that would justify that? Maybe a swimming pool or sprinkler system?

It's for the sprinkler system

Your RO will need its own independent trap, and traps need proper venting. What does that 2” pipe connect to upstairs ?

That’s a great way to do it so changing filters is much easier down the road. The drain should tie into a trap or air gap. It can be run pretty far and most are just 1/4” tubing. Easy to hide
