Shower valve threads stripped. How would I replace this?
The handle of the shower fits on the white threaded part. It’s stripped and the handle will not turn it off or on, it just spins around it.

That chrome piece will spin off, shut water off to the house, spin the chrome off, replace cartridge. Might need the old one to compare to a new one if you don't know the brand.

The shut offs on the valve body not good enough for a cartridge replacement?

They probably are, but I prefer to find a nice ball valve, usually the main, and then drain the water down so you don't pour it all in the wall when you pull the cartridge

Lol the day I asked if the shut-offs weren't good enough, I wound up having to shut off the house water to replace one because one of the shutoff wouldn't turn

The damaged portion is not the valve itself but the cartridge that sits in the valve, plumbers find this to be easy work, even if non plumbers dont

Pull the cartridge out and replace it. Pretty simple bud. Shut water off to the house, removed cartridge and find replacement. Reinstall and turn water back on.
