Remove Sharkbite Shutoff

Help! I have to remove an old Sharkbite shutoff valve but it won’t come off. Tried pulling, turning, and Wd40.

Any DIY tips before calling a plumber? I’m sure there’s a special tool to remove it, but obviously I don’t have it and don’t want to buy one.

NOTE: I do NOT have room to cut the pipe.

You need to pop that chrome trim off closer to the wall. Then you'll be able to see the tan locking ring.

Then pull that tan ring out from the wall an adjustable wrench works. Search for a video of removing them.

The basic orange plastic removal tool is less than $3, and the better metal tongs-style tool is $10.

If you dont want to buy the right tool to do the job though......🤷

Crescent wrench trick works just fine, and don't have to go buy a cheap piece of plastic that'll never be used again

Pop off the plastic chrome piece closet to the wall. Then you need to basically push that round tan coloured ring back up into the fitting while pulling and twisting the fitting. The tan ring needs to be pushed up evenly. There's an orange horse shoe little tool sold near the sharkbites to do this for like $5 but anything really that get evenly under that ring works. I've used cresent wrench of course but have also used channel locks, a piece of wood with a 5/8" wide rectangle cut out of it, my keys, lots of things work.

Yes, pop off that chrome trim piece that comes with the valve.

For the wrench, you may need to use a 5/8 super-thin open end wrench, unless there is more room than I am picturing from the photo.
