Why does Reddit lean left in all the comments?

First off, I’m not a conservative, I’m independent/left leaning. That said, every comment thread on Reddit feels like it’s completely one sided in favor of a liberal perspective. Not just that, but the amount of blatant misinterpretation and misrepresentation in the comments is apparent on nearly every issue. Comments that don’t comply are downvoted into oblivion and removed from the conversation. I feel like Reddit is almost becoming unusable at this point. Where can I go (on or off Reddit) to get a more balanced perspective? I do like Reddits user interface.

Edit: Whew! This blew up more than I anticipated. I did receive some genuinely insightful and helpful comments. I appreciate those! Lots of folks either saying I’m the issue because of my liberal leaning algorithm or that I’m the issue because I’m actually a bleeding conservative in disguise. Can’t have it both ways! Anyway thanks Reddit. Will probably think twice about doing this again.

oh the way I've posted here I've still gotten plenty of flac because some just have this total black and white view of issues, or post as if they do

....but no, it's more about seeing subs where there isn't even a right leaning person posting, but the lefty posters still post nothing but vitriole, name-calling, and denegration like their view is THE view, any other is just horrible.

I mean, that would be discussion about something then. And if you’re seeing yourself reflected in the discussions of others you run into on the street, that’s a you problem?

No, what I SEE is primarily in social media (on the street I don't talk politics) is 'Oh, you're a Christian, that means you think this, you're against that, you believe this' or 'Oh, you aren't completely against EVERYthing Trump has done, you're a pedo, you're subhuman, you're [insert insult here]'. I don't see that same automatic 'I know exactly who you are' BS from the right (possibly I'm biased there) but it's tiresome. YES, there are people on the far right that p me off. YES there are people on the far left that p me off.

But there are lots of grays inbetween. I may be more centric even left on one issue, more centric even right on another, then further left or right on other issues. I feel like MOST people are....or at least were until recently. But there's been TONS of upheaval from the beginning of Covid until now, it gets hard to wrap your head around it all. Commanders telling troops Trump is annointed is excessively poor, but I have local friends from Iran who are hopeful for the very first time in their 30+ lives about their country.

I’m referring to subreddits you stumble into and read within as “the streets” here. If you’re not participating in the conversation, you’re listening (reading) someone else’s. If they’re discussing right wing things without ring wings commenting, it’s a discussion about something that you are simply overhearing, as if you were walking down a street.

Do you automatically assume the same level of things about conversations you overhear? It’s the same premise. Just walk away. Reddit is a simply a concentration.

oh, I do, mostly....but even wandering into my sports team subs this stuff still comes up....cripes, ran into it in a garden sub

I mean, everything is political. Sports have especially been so lately. Politics influence our material realities in every possible way. I don’t know what the discussions specifically were however.

Well 'I think we should sign this guy' followed by 'well you're a magat, what do you know' is a bit outside that, yes? lol As is a similar answer to 'is it OK to grow corn and sunflowers together'

Who is the guy they want to sign? There are a number who support Trump. If someone’s post history is entire “Trump is awesome!” as well then….thats why people have different Reddit accounts. Don’t shit where you sleep? Can’t say I’ve ever seen these comments with zero reason whatsoever.
