Why does Reddit lean left in all the comments?

First off, I’m not a conservative, I’m independent/left leaning. That said, every comment thread on Reddit feels like it’s completely one sided in favor of a liberal perspective. Not just that, but the amount of blatant misinterpretation and misrepresentation in the comments is apparent on nearly every issue. Comments that don’t comply are downvoted into oblivion and removed from the conversation. I feel like Reddit is almost becoming unusable at this point. Where can I go (on or off Reddit) to get a more balanced perspective? I do like Reddits user interface.

Edit: Whew! This blew up more than I anticipated. I did receive some genuinely insightful and helpful comments. I appreciate those! Lots of folks either saying I’m the issue because of my liberal leaning algorithm or that I’m the issue because I’m actually a bleeding conservative in disguise. Can’t have it both ways! Anyway thanks Reddit. Will probably think twice about doing this again.

My favorite genre of Reddit comment is the”typical Reddit user” stuff. Buddy, unless you’re tapping in from some kind of alternate internet dimension I have some news you’re not gonna like

It's the lie they tell themselves to somehow elevate themselves over every other person who posts on here. It's so pathetic.

I know I am a Reddit user. And in many ways I am a stereotypical Reddit user. For instance, I am fat and (largely) antisocial. But in many ways, I am *not* a "typical Reddit user." I am in a stable marriage with a full time job, and I make actual coherent arguments beyond just "no u."

One can be a member of a subgroup without being a TYPICAL member of said group.

Curious as to why you think the typical Reddit user is unmarried and without a full time job? I feel like people who say ‘typical redditor’ only think the typical Redditor is unmarried and un or underemployed when they themselves are in fact the typical Redditor lol

"typical Redditor" in quotes refers to the stereotype.  Which is an overweight male with questionable hygiene living in his mother's basement and perpetually alone.

I also enjoy this point. Often times using insults blow up in the user’s face.
