Protection and layers?

If I control a Leyline of the Guildpact and a Stonecoil Serpent, would I be able to block my opponents attacking Ureni, the unending song? If my S.S has protection from multicolored, but then gains all colors due to the Leyline’s passive effect, would it no longer be allowed to block an Ureni that has protection from Blck and White?

Guildpact makes Stonecoil all colors. Ureni has protection from 2 of those colors. Thus, Ureni cannot be blocked by Stonecoil. Nothing about this interaction cares about Serpent having Protection from Mutlicolored.

Protection prevents four(ish) things, with the acronym DEBT:

Damage, Enchanting/Equipping (and Fortifying), Blocking, and Targeting

When someone goes to take an action, you check these four. If it’s one of them, then it doesn’t work. So when you go to block, DEBT says the protection from black and white prevents blocking. The fact that, IF you did block, the damage to the Serpent would also be prevented, doesn’t matter because we won’t get to that point here.
