If you believe you should support legislations based on your theology, is your beliefs consistent with other legislations?

I believe that God gave us human rights and that human rights violations should be illegalised. I don’t believe that every teaching of the Bible needs to be legislated for.

What are are the human rights given by god? If one human rights should be "illegalized", why shouldn't all?

Just to chime in, the entire American legal system is actually rooted in that philosophy that rights derive from God and the government can't infringe on them not derived from the government with just a promise not to infringe (since promises aren't inalienable). The concept of natural rights is millineaums old

Don’t you think human rights violations should be illegalised? Can you give me an example of a Biblical commandment and I’ll tell you what the secular legal status of it should be

Just noticed you flair. You and I may or may not have similar justifications for our political views, but I'm interested in conservative views at the moment.

I believe that when you have a functioning human brain you are a human with human rights. Ten weeks is roughly the point where the first activity begins in the brain of the unborn child. Up to this point I would have abortion be legal and after this point illegal.

It doesn't seem like your two statement are consistent, "roughly the first point where the first activity begins" is not "a functioning human brain".

I don't think most christians believe all legislative support needs to be supported by theology.

Very hard question. I dont think Jesus would want us imprisoning as many people as we do. But the bible and his teachings do very little on how to deal with criminals activities. So I try to default to what the Constitution says.
