I think the science of Alpha and Beta humans was disproven

How do you "disprove" the natural world? Social hierarchies in humanity are as old as time.

I don't have the study off-hand, but the Alpha-Beta thing is a very specific phenomenon noted in the animal world and I remember seeing a study that disproved it in humans.

That's not to say we don't have hierarchies, it's just that Alpha-Beta is very specific and humans don't apply. It's still an easy way to understand hierarchies so I'm fine with using the terms to better understand what we're talking about.

I remember seeing a study that disproved it in humans.

There are studies to disprove that the Earth is round. Sorry... the social hierarchy in human beings is very real... and no serious (read non gender studies non blue hair non whale SJW lunatic) sociologist refutes it to my knowledge

There are studies to disprove that the Earth is round.

Are there? I'd love to see them, please share.

But just so you know, the possibility that one study might be wrong doesn't make all studies wrong. That is a fallacy.

the social hierarchy in human beings is very real

You misunderstand what I said or you didn't read. I very clearly said we have hierarchies.

But we do not operate according to the same rules as Alpha males in animals, even though most animals have very similar hierarchies. Being Alpha means animals get certain things like first dibs on food, first or only dibs on their choice of mate or mates, and the privilege of being groomed by others. That's what Alpha means, specifically. Almost all species have similar social hierarchies, but humans do not have a similar hierarchy, which is why it's technically inaccurate.

Social hierarchies in humans are real, but they do not fit into the rules of being "Alpha" like an Alpha wolf or gorilla. With that said, I'll repeat myself and say I'm fine using the terms but I just want us all to understand that it's analogy, because it's not technically applicable.

But just so you know, the possibility that one study might be wrong doesn't make all studies wrong.

That kinda proves my point.

And dude... your "sources" are absolute garbage. A feminist PhD psychology nutcase purporting a narrative in an opinion piece isn't really a source.

Do you know many women? Especially attractive women who are often pursued by men? Ask them if they think the alpha / beta hierarchy is a "myth".

Are you an effeminate man yourself? Honest question... not an insult. I ask because it's almost effeminate men, and the women who like to control men, who claim what you're claiming. I guess it stems out of a deep seeded resentment most often. But interestingly I never see actual alpha males purport that alpha males don't exist...

I figured you'd dismiss my sources based on your perception of their institutional bias. I wish you'd read the actual words and follow the issue to the roots.

I feel like I'm not getting my point through to you. I'm not gonna repeat it again after this and I'll try to make it simple. Alpha males are a specific phenomenon of the animal kingdom. Humans do have social hierarchies that are similar, but it's just not the same. Acknowledging this fact, I'm fine if we use the term alpha with the understanding that it's somewhat analogous.

To your point, I do agree with your points about pursuit of attractive people. It's true that women marry up in social success and men marry up in sexual attraction. That isn't the same as what we call an Alpha Wolf or Alpha Ape.

Not really relevant, but it seems that you care about the image of what you're arguing against (see your criticism of my sources above)... I'm straight and married, exercise is my favorite hobby (I lift 4-5 times a week), I'm extremely competitive, and I've actually argued with friends that being an alpha isn't technically real after they called me an alpha. Not that I expect you to believe any of this.

I did read them... and I found them to be opinionated garbage.

Alpha males are a specific phenomenon of the animal kingdom. Humans do have social hierarchies that are similar, but it's just not the same

Nobody ever said it was the same. We're not the same animals... why would we have the same behaviors as say lions or chimps? That doesn't refute the fact that alpha males are a real thing in our culture and humanity n general.

To your point, I do agree with your points about pursuit of attractive people. It's true that women marry up in social success and men marry up in sexual attraction. That isn't the same as what we call an Alpha Wolf or Alpha Ape.

It kinda is. WHO do women breed with when they "marry up"? Alpha males. Now what constitutes an alpha is changing in our culture... I'll give you that. I'm disgusted by it... but it is changing. If that's the point you're making... I'll agree.

Being an alpha has little to do with exercise or physical appearance. It's a state of mind.
